Not his motivation, I'm talking the film's motivation. They're all searching for Luke to restore order to the galaxy. That's the premise of the whole film. Yet 3 planets with likely billions of people get killed, as well as his best mate... kind of defeats the purpose of searching for him don't you think? In fact, searching for him actually did more harm than good <laugh>.

The point about him sensing the destruction and death is secondary but equally stupid. Remember in the orginal Star Wars when Vader destroys a whole planet and Obi Wun says "It's as if a billion voices cried out all at once and then vanished". We must assume Skywalker sensed the same in SW7, yet is stood in a sulk on a fcking cliff top staring out to sea throughout the whole film. Bit of a **** if you ask me... <laugh>

The Way Way Back 7.5/10 really enjoyable feel good type film.
Hush 7/10 horror thriller done quite well.
The Gift 7/10 Stalker thriller quite good.

All worth a watch, the last 2 are on Netflix if you have a list going get them added.

Or its a redemption story as usual? Luke has wallowed in self pity after his failure with Ren sensing it or not he's succumbed to his "dark side" of fear and self loathing. Rey talks him back to at to complete her training and fill in the holes in her memory ((most likely that he created for her protection)×..will probably sacrifice himself in a Obiwan kind of way at some point.

As for Rey..while her parentage is still a mystery with limited options lol .it was clear she was the only surviving youngling from the new jedi temple destroyed by Ren.

It's reboot for God's sake....it might be on the same timeline but make no mistake this film was a reboot.

That's weak tbh but lets say it covers the secondary point about why he apparently doesn't seem to give a fck, it still doesn't cover the whole point about searching for him as the basis for the film which is a far weaker motivation for the plot. OK you're the Resistance and you want your inspirational leader back. Fair enough go looking for him, but if you're the First Order, why are you so bothered? You've happily managed in the mean time to destroy 3 whole planets on a whim and killed Han Solo as a result of their folly. Makes little sense tbh.

Or..... luke skywalker is the emperor reborn as per star wars books and the giant figure is actually like communicating from his hides hole. ... ever think of that guys.

The whole thing is a test to see which could follow the clues and be worthy.

    Or not......

But in the end why are you looking for deep and meaningful where patently it's a kids movie. The fact is the rebel pilot and the druid and finn are so childish that is obvious and Han and chewie were even characatures of their originals. Han on original movies was never so childish as portrayed here.

It's like that Simpson episode where the mob and the triads fight outside homers house.

Homer is like but the little guy hasn't done anything yet but marge pull him away.

They all assume like will do something but the reality is he's fat and old and rent is actually the main character.

As weak as Yoda and Obiwan hiding away on their respective planets for decades rather than coming up with a way to defeat only 2 baddies that actually mattered? I mean send a non trained dude in a solo craft to destroy the space station rather than be able to come up with a plan yourself..? **** Yoda couldn't even originally be arsed to train Luke lol. And Obiwan just watched him from a hidey hole like a pervert rather than train him from birth.....

Risk management lol? He took down the last empire when he was one brand new jedi and a few mates.

As Mito says...there was always going to plot holes as it's a kids film. Plus Lucas allowed so many plot holes originally as he chopped and changed what was canon when it suited.

Honestly think they'll just hurry up and get the oldies out of the way so they can do what they want now it's out of Lucas' clutches..

Personally I liked it. You can pick the same holes in the originals too. The premises are fairly ridiculous as are some of the sequence of events...

I just enjoy them as a bit of escapism. I like this one from a production point of view. JJ knew what Lucas in his obsession with developing CGI missed. It should always be real locations and sets as much as possible with CGI enhancement.

Lucas would have used virtual humans if he could have got away with it. He's a techie not a film maker.

I thought that jj basically **** on a lot of stuff and it was poor in places.

For example there was a scene where ren is chased in woods. This scene could gave been so much more dramatic and an opportunity existed to make it feel like a first person rpg. Put camera behind the guy with the red light saber, insert breathing. Watch him follow and stalk her.

    He didn't.

But there was I think a lot of deleted scenes I reckon

In more than one sense of the word

So many cool parts to that episode

    1. Cersei's Terminator knight's skull crushing PR campaign, the sound of piss hitting armour and his general scaring the **** out of everyone who sees him, you know he'd take out that troop of king's guard in seconds
    2. Tyrion making friends with dragons 'I'm here to help ... don't eat the help' and Vary's 'I do not make dwarf jokes' <laugh>
    3. Ramsay murdering his whole family and who let the dogs out moment ... 'He's yer brother Ramsay!' 'I prefer being an only child' <laugh>
    4. Bran's time travel cave and seeing the young Hodor, sorry, Willis
    5. Whatshisname returning with all the Wildlings then Wun Wuns skull crushing PR campaign and how all the men immediately give up ... Tormund's line 'took a lot of knives' ... awesome
    6. The resurrection ... and now hopefully vengeaaaaaaaaaaance !!

They were the best bits for me, the stand off between J Lannister and the High Sparrow and his soldiers was also fun hopefully anticipating carnage, Tommen's speech to Cersei was cool as well ... fighting talk; then the Arya story has been moved on with her learning to be nobody, so that's good, and it was good to see the Iron Islands getting involved again. Lots of interesting stuff moved into place for the rest of the series

I was questioning it before this season started and jury was still out after the first (very good) episode but the new one is a classic ... excellent telly, so I'm in again

Best thing about that episode actually
is how they just quickly did the Snow resurrection and didn't drag it out for the entire season, good pacing and allows the plot to move on smoothly. Not sure I would've done it quid how it happens in the episode, wanted them to put him in the pyre that Tormund's building and have him walk out of it or something. As the scene went on you knew he was simply going to gasp and open his eyes, but it was a cool scene, liked Melisandre really trying hard to make it happen and they managed to make that final cliche moment of the wake up a surprise by having them all walk out silently scoffing at her magic thinking this be some major bullshit before that lingering scene of his body.

If you look at it closely there's a lot of focus on the wolf in that scene and as he comes back to life the wolf makes a noise as it wakes up just before him. My theory is that Snow's mind, intellect, being etc had been living on in the wolf through him warging into it or simply through his close connection to it and he was waiting there until a time came when the body was ready to have him back, if that would come at all. If not he would stay inside the wolf. We don't know if he has changed as a person from doing that. I hope he has become much more badass and a hard, wolf-like motherfucker though.

    Dunno. I've watched it twice.

    I think the witch....
really good, she's sold the despair and depression perfect there. Actually right before the scene where the giant breaks in they showed the sword as the ould fella chose it so I'm sure that's significant too.
