I was due to attend two funerals yesterday at the Crematorium, I made the first one but our transport got snarled up in the gridlock that followed this tragedy and wasn't able to attend the second one. When we found out the reason for the non show, we was shocked as hell. A bad day just became a really **** day. Deepest sympathy to the family of this poor woman and child. R.I.P.
When driverless really takes off, life driving bans need to be routine for this sort of driver. I'd life ban them already.
It's an absolute tragedy. Sympathy to all affected. I wonder how often we all make errors of judgement when driving, or let our attitude to others cloud our judgement? Most of the time we get away with it, but every now and then the consequences are dire. I doubt that driver set out to kill or injure anyone, but it looks like he got it badly wrong in a moment of poor judgement, that will live with those affected for ever. I think the lesson for us all to is to try to have more care and courtesy, and be aware that we're in charge of about a tonne or more of lethal equipment. It's easy to feel secure in a metal box, but easy to forget others are far more vulnerable, which is no consolation to those it impacts on. RIP.
Spot on Dutch. The person driving that truck never went out that morning to kill anyone. He may for all anyone on here knows be an excellent conscientious driver. He probably isn't, but that's not the point. None of us know. He could have made a one off mistake that haunts him for the rest of his life. RIP to the woman and the little one. Horrible horrible stuff
I walk, cycle and drive in Hull, turned right off Spring Bank down Stanley st countless times to get through to Argyle st., never seen it as a dangerous spot. There but for the grace of God.....
I must admit the older I get, 60 now, the more concentration I need on the road, I made a decision a while ago that I won't use my hands free mobile now because I found that I could drive miles talking on the phone and not remember any of the journey I have driven.
At about 6 pm last night we were driving back from Epsom to London when we got behind a Lamborghini driven by a young guy. When traffic lights were at red you could sense his frustration. When they turned to green he'd drive at 90 in a 30 limit until he was slowed by the car in front. This happened a few times. Eventually he crossed the lights at yellow a fraction of a second before the lights turned to red and disappeared from view. An accident waiting to happen.
This happened at the top of my street. The main danger at that junction is for pedestrians crossing Stanley Street. When the pedestrian crossing lights are at red, vehicles travelling down Spring Bank towards town, wanting to go into Stanley Street, go flying into the juntion in order to get through before the lights go to green again. I've almost been caught out myself several times here, stepping out to cross over before having to step back as a vehicle suddenly veers in.
my dad told me about that, apparently a young woman and a 2 year old were on the zebra crossing and a lorry driver plowed into them. Think he is getting done for driving without due care and attention. he failed to stop as he didnt realize he had done it. sad very sad.
The girl was five and the driver's been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving. The woman had five other kids, who are now tragically without a mum.
My dad was a lorry driver, and on average I've found lorry drivers to be decent drivers, but there's always someone who proves you wrong. God bless the victims here.
