So the stories today are that Nasri wants to go to Man City when his contract expires. There's also reported unrest from De Jong, Kompany & Richards over the frankly ridonculous wages being paid to Cities top earners while they are offered new contracts on a paltry 80-ish thousand a week (as low as 55k for Richards). With this in mind, and seeing as Nasri will be on his way in a year anyway, would you consider something of a swap to be a good deal? Kompany is tall, can play CB or DM, and is from Vermaelen's home country. Richards is a CB/RB, a known Arsenal admirer / fan, still young and English. De Jong I wouldn't be too keen on. Good player, but with Frimpong & Song already playing in DM, I don't think he's needed. Would you take a straight swap? Or a swap-plus-cash? Or some other variation?
agree with Piski. problem is, kompany was immense last season, probably in their top 3 players, so city won't want to let him go. plus, will he earn any more at arsenal? not likely.
Nasri was reportedly offered 115k/wk so there must be money for wages or transfers available. 8m = 20k/wk for 4 years. So if Arsenal received Kompany & 8m, you could offer him 90k/wk (10k up on Man Cities offer, but close enough to RvP etc. for them not to be too unhappy), and realistically he's only on 70k as the 8m is paying for his wages for the first 4 years of his contract. I'd love Kompany at Arsenal. I think he'd be a beast. Wouldn't be too keen on either of the others tho.
I'd take a straight swap - Nasri for Kompany. He could partner TV at centre back but also cover Song in midfield during the ACON. We have an abundance of attacking midfielders and just need a bit of steel, this would solve that problem. Never going to happen though!
I'm at a loss to think why Arsene will want to keep him another year only to lose him for nothing, unless of course he thinks he can work on the player over the course of the year to extend his contract. It seems a tall order. If we don't win the EPL and take say a cup or two for instance, Nasri can still say he wants to go anyway. I say get rid of him now for player and cash or even just cash...... lots of it I would rather lose Nasri whose attitude I'm thoroughly fed up with anyway and keep Cesc who is infinitely more creative than the Frenchman.
