I hope fans don't pussyout of this one again http://www.onlinegooner.com/article.php?section=exclusive&id=3439#.Vx9o6_krLct http://www.blackscarfafc.co.uk/time-for-change.html
Well the protest was a spectacular fail, all it did was galvanise support for Arsene Wenger. It only goes to prove that the different fans groups can't always judge the mood of the fans and fans attending games are not the ones who are Twitter followers.I think it would be fair to say that the majority of Arsenal supporters are unhappy with how this season has panned out but go to games to support the team and not take part in protests
Arsenal have over 100 million supporters around the world. We have a 60,000 seater stadium. Not every fan can go to games for one reason or another, so trying to extrapolate the support for Wenger based on one day where the support/calls for him to go were inconclusive anyway is disingenuous. Let's not forget that there were a lot of empty seats too, so maybe some decided to show their disapproval with the situation by not attending the matches. A lot of the signs also said that there needed to be change at the club. Change doesn't necessarily translate to a change of manager. My view is that there need to be multiple changes at the club for our situation to improve, but some may feel there only needs to be a change of owner or a change at board level. You can't generalise based on some people singing Wenger's name. All this situation shows is that there is a divide amongst the fanbase about what they want at the club - but the consensus seems to be that there needs to be a change in some form.
From where I was sitting the support for Wenger was very conclusive If you look at social media the groups that organised yesterdays protest ie She Wore,BSM,AST etc seem to think that Wenger only has support among our foreign and non match going fans.It would be fair to say that some in those groups treat non match going fans with total contempt. On the subject of empty seats,it was a Cat C game, there are always plenty of empty of empty seats for Cat C games. The game was sold out to non season ticket holders. Some season ticket holders decided to boycott the WBA game.I saw an interesting Tweet from an ST holder who was boycotting the WBA,he was bemoaning the fact that he couldn't sell his ticket on Tick.Ex.He wanted to show his displeasure by boycotting the game but certainly didn't want to lose his money and didn't want his seat to be empty.
The point isn't about where you were sat or what you think you saw. The point is there are 100 million Arsenal fans around the world who have their own opinion on our situation & the manager especially. So trying to claim that support for Wenger is 'conclusive', when a few people chanted his name in a 60K seater stadium, would be utterly naive.
I know what I saw not what I think I saw and I can assure you that more than a few people chanted their support for Wenger. This thread is about the protest at the Norwich game on Saturday and whether you want to accept it or not the support for Wenger was conclusive.
On the day, maybe it was conclusive. But there are other ways of showing your disapproval with the situation. A lot of fans who attend games and who do not attend games are still extremely disappointed in our season and in the manager's choices. One match day does not change that. Whether it was a majority of fans that sung Wenger's name or whether it wasn't, that doesn't change the divide between the fans generally over Wenger's incumbency. Not all Arsenal fans go to games but it doesn't make them any less of a fan.
WBA was a very unusual Thursday evening game. No real surprise the numbers were down. You are almost alone in your hatred of the club, so just drop it and wait for things to change in a respectful manner
Those are the numbers going round, the tens of thousands of empty seats could be seen on everybody's screen, cheers to you for being denial, LOL, you probably believed the club when it said something like 59k.
