Crystal Palace's penalty against the Mags was the nearest thing you will ever get to a back pass to the keeper.. It was an absolute shocker and in my opinion was not an attempt on goal..

Pardew should have been disciplined for bringing football in disrepute after his utterances last week - was not on for a manager stating publicly wanting opposition to stay up just before playing them

If I was wearing them I'd try hiding too - even behind a Scotland flag!

I can't really say anything. I grew up on the west coast of Scotland and used to go to all of their home games at Hampden, wrapped in the Saltire - unless they were playing England.

Aye, born in the General and lived in Fenham till I was 12 and then moved up to Scotland to a small village that only someone with your background has probably ever heard of. Moved all over the place for most of my adult life and finally came back home (Newcastle) 5 years ago.

Your take on the handball and penalty?

The handball was stupid, and though I don't think there was any intent, if it brushed his hand it had to be a penalty with his arm in such an unnatural position.Absolutely needless thing to do.

The penalty was not a great penalty but was typical of a Cabaye penalty. He very rarely hits the ball very hard, usually going for placement rather than power. He also often puts the ball very close to where the keeper is standing, very rarely going to the corners of the goal. That one was actually further away from the keeper than a lot of his penalties are. The surprise isn't that he had that one saved, but that he has such a good record from the spot. Most of his penalties could be saved if the keeper goes the right way or even just stands still until it is taken. I can understand the annoyance with it from a Sunderland fan's point of view, but that is how he always takes them. It was a better penalty than the one he scored against Reading in the cup, and no different than many he scored for us.
