Mackems can feel free to book mark this thread, because I understand Sunderland are still slight favourites and it's definitely possible they will pull this off, however.... I think 6pts will do it lads, but maybe even 4 will be enough. Sunderland - Chelsea (H) 0 Everton (H) 3 Watford (A) 1 Norwich - Man Utd (H) 0 Watford (H) 1 Everton (A) 1 Sunderland look well organised at the back, but there's definitely a mistake in them, and they look toothless sometimes and rely so heavily on Defoe to pull off something amazing. They only just scraped a draw vs Stoke. They will likely set up to try and draw vs Chelsea because they will feel they can beat their last two opponents and stay up with 7pts on goal difference. A dangerous gamble. I don't think Sunderland can defend their way to 7+ points against their next opponents. They will need to come out of their comfort zone. I definitely think it's possible and understand they are slight favourites over us, but if they lose heavily to Chelsea, then they'll be worried and will have no choice but to go for it. Norwich look toothless in attack and look the most likely to be relegated. To me.
6 points. Personally I think Sunderland will get 7-9 points so it'll be irrelevant. I'm pinning my hopes on either Chelsea being on a good day and Hazard peaking at the right time, or Watford just wanting it badly. Everton will roll I think because they can't defend.
We are crap and that is the truth, they talk a good match but do not do it, that was the worst performance since Spurs away that was a must win game and they never turned up. I watched it on dodgy t v, we will be lucky to win 1 game as Alladyce persists with Cattemole instead of Larsson and Borini cannot score. 3 draws is what this team want because of the frigging draw mentality and that might keep us up but unlikely. Chelsea will be tough as Hazard is back, Everton bogey team, Watford who knows ?. You will have a tough game at Villa now they lost to Watford, I would rather play Watford away than Villa to be honest who will be determined to halt that appalling run of theirs and Spurs will not roll over though. But I said we were down last season and 2 seasons before that and we stopped up so who knows, I think Norwich will finish 2nd bottom.
I dont think Mackems will win another game this season. I think they'll draw 3 times. Which is what they've been doing all along. And I think 3 points would be enough. But maybe we won't get them. If we beat Villa I think we'll be safe either way. Big IF. We've been so ****e away from home particularly. We were kinda ****e yesterday too. Lots of nerves on display yesterday, we rode our luck hard.
I expect something like 2 draws and a win for Sunderland in the last 3. Really think we will need to win both to have a chance of surviving.
We need three points - next week! At the minute that is all we need. If/when we get those then I think we will probably still need another three points against Spurs to stand a chance. Rafa is doing it the right way though - one target at a time. If we can get another three points against Villa that will put massive pressure on both the other teams. As things stand, I think Sunderland will get 6 points from their last two games. Norwich I think might get three, but six is not impossible. However, if we win against Villa, and Sunderland and Norwich both lose difficult games, both Sunderland and Norwich will go into their games in hand knowing defeat (or even a draw for Norwich) will relegate them. That makes those games far more difficult. Targets will be changing plenty of times between now and the end of the season. Sunderland hold the cards. We need to make it as difficult as we can for them though.
I think we will get 4 points out of the last 3 games. I also think you guys will beat Villa. So for me it's always going to be about if you guys can get something off Spurs.
I'm of this thinking myself but regardless I hope we put in the best shift we can against Spurs and with second secured for them and Andros with a point to prove we can carve out a good result hopefully.
When did Sunderland last beat anyone at home? The random game against Manu? Apart from that? What makes you think they can beat Chelsea or Everton at home? You guys forget both Sunderland and us have been utter ****e all season. Teams don't not win 80% of matches all season and then magically win 2/3. Therefore I'm still very doubtful we'll beat Villa, but I actually think 2 points more is enough to keep us up, because I don't see Mackems getting 2 more points, with squeaky bum on last day where Watford grinds out a 0-0 draw and us doing the same, therefore keeping us in the division and sending mackems down.
It's can't lose time. If we lose against Villa that's more or less curtains. If the mackems lose against either Chelsea or Everton then they are in a serious hole. We could, quite realistically be 4 points clear after next weekend. Or we could be doomed
Newcastle - Villa - 3 Spurs - 1 Sunderland Chelsea - 1 Everton - 3 Watford - 0 Norwich United - 0 Watford - 3 Everton - 0 Final standings Newcastle - 37 Sunderland - 36 Norwich - 34 Villa - who cares
Newcastle and Spurs to draw, could you advise me how much money I should bet on that prediction ? How much are you going to gamble
Spurs will have lost the league by then, nothing to play for and rest a few players. A draw is conservative.
I've had another thunk on it. Basically nothing will change on the last day. Whoevers in the bottom 3 on the last day at kickoff will still be there when the final matches are done.
