Decent win against a team that are battling for their top-flight status. I suppose it was always going to be nervy, but the team selection didn't exactly inspire confidence. I'm also glad Wenger didn't wait until the usual 70th minute to make a substitution, but Giroud shouldn't have started in the first place because, not only has he not scored in the last 13 games (14 now), he is too static and that was shown throughout the game as he wasn't occupying their centre-halves at all. I still feel Welbeck and Coquelin should have started ahead of Giroud and Ramsey because it would have given us more movement and speed in our play. The win could have been more convincing than it was, but given that we'd only won 3 of our previous 7 home fixtures, I'm relieved we finally got a win. We need to learn to take advantage of the full 90 minutes because we only looked like a good team in the second 45.
Where is acfw when you need him and his stats about Giroud? Welbeck has to start against City, his pace could give problems to their defence, especially after they play Madrid away in mid week so they will already be tired.
Decent enough 3 points against relegation battlers who were always going to be fighting for their lives. Agree about Welbeck and Coquelin, both Giroud and Ramsey look really bereft of confidence at the moment and as you mention the former are far more mobile. Also what does Campbell have to do to get a game ? At the moment I'd much rather see Campbell and Sanchez on the flanks, with Welbeck up front. I know there's a lot of negativity around Arsenal at the moment, but for all the **** being flung, the table shows us just 2 points behind the spuds who everybody has been jiizzing about all season.
That is very telling. Considering our form nosedived after December, to be only 2 pointa behind Spurs shows that Spurs isn't as good as everyone thinks they are. If everyone says we bottled it then Spurs should equally be held accountable.
TBH when we have to say that 'we're only such and such points behind Spurs' as a positive, that in itself shows how bad things are. That's what it comes down to. Goodness gracious.
There's still time to haul the ****ers in if we can get a result at City too. We have Villa at home after that. After playing the Chavs, the spuds have Southampton at home and then a tricky away tie at Newcastle who will be fighting for their lives.
You are also currently above Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool. It's a disastrous season......
