I really think the away strip sets a statement of intent about the club - our home strip is basically red & white stripes but away strip also raises our profile in the casual wearer market - imo
It is a much nicer home top than the crap we have had this season. I quite like the green one, not as much as the yellow one the season before, but would much prefer white or a deep, mid-blue ala hummel/vaux/g-force.
Exactly what I mean - a bit embarrassing & not Sunderland -like but thats just an opinion I think a distinctive blueish away top would be more Sunderland. If it appeals to the uncomitted casual fans it raises our profile - but until we are reliably ruthless and clinical in front of goal (ie our good players become class players) it is one big empty statement
