Central midfield being the right side of the diamond? As we very rarely played a flat midfield. You're probably right about Bennett and Pilkington. Don't know where Johnson would fit in the diamond? From what I'm aware he could play anywhere in the diamond.
Sorry, yes I meant right side of diamond. I'm not sure of Johnson's creative skills to play in Wes' position, but he seems to have all the qualities to play in the other three positions.
We won't always play the diamond next year. Hell, I doubt we'll stick with one formation for a whole game. Our adjustability to disarm our opponents will win us games. In a flat four Lansbury is very versatile, if he finds a position and makes it his own, his passes could really help out. I'll never forget the pass for holtys second against the binners at home. I wanted to have sex with that pass.
I really believe we will get one more player in before the end of aug - lambert is very shrewd at the media thing, it might not be dani or Henri, but someone probably as a loan, once the big teams have their squads sorted. Lastly as above, we have plenty of midfield options
Max - we're only allowed 2 loanees from fellow premier league teams! We already have de Laet and Naughton, so it won't be a loanee from a big team
It would be great to have Lansbury or Pacheco back but I'm not reading into this one we seem to have quite a lot of midfielders already, but Max has made a fair point about Lambert's relationship with the media, his not exactly one of these charismatic managers who need to constantly big themselves and their plans up to the media, his more about not giving things away and getting on with it.
What do we make of this lads and lasses? It just won't go away! http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/203429/Arsenal-s-Henri-Lansbury-to-join-Norwich/?
the fact they are saying a 1.5m deal suprises me. I thought we had an offer for that turned down. 1.5m would be a steal. I'd have said more like 3.5m As I said on a previous thread though, with add-ons, you never really know the true value of a transfer. I really hope it is true but if not the so be it.
That story is even less believable than if it was the usual Star, Sun story. No quotes from "inside sources" just a couple of lines. Although saying that, if these stories keep circulating and nobody from the club deny's them, maybe the story does have legs.
I have to say, if we get him for £1.5 million we should put that on Bargain Hunt! Ludicrously cheap, in the manner of ,"an offer we cannot refuse!"
A lot of people on here are saying we don't need him as he wasn't a regular starter, but the guy has huge potential. This story won't go away, still can't see it happening, but if it does then fantastic for us
NEED him? No, he would not be the difference between survival and relegation. I think the squad we have will be fine. WANT him, yes, of course. He is a definate talent and will get netter and better. Would be great to have him here.
I wouldn't touch that paper with a stick, doubt it's anywhere near true. We've got 23 players at the moment and lambert will want to keep a couple of spaces for january. I know we are also not limited in the number of under 21s we have. But I doubt lambert is lying about 7 transfers. He's known for keeping his cards close to his chest - keeping quiet. Not lying. I also feel that going beyond 7 players won't be good for the club, we have a lot of strikers and midfielders, enough defenders and lamberts said he's fine with the goalkeeping situation. If Lansbury and/or Pacheco were signed I'd expect it to be in January.
I started this thread 2 days ago and it is still going on I think 1.5 is too cheap he is worth 3 million, I believe he was coming 2 days ago nothing happen so I just think it is paper talk
...................he has also said that he will always work to improve the playing staff so if someone became available at the right price that would do this then he would act to acquire their services. just practical and sensible business practice.
I will have a little look at the squad for the Emirates cup, if Lansbury isn t included then i ll start to believe we are in for him... My kids are all wearing Arsenal kits and the eldest is the mascot for the Red bulls game tomorrow. They are sponsoring Save the children charity and they got chosen from their N London school. They are still canaries though... For now..
