    Some good news..
Well the boys bear Blackburn 2-1 earlier today.. after an 8 hour coach trip last night!!
    Journey was hell..
Blackburn play a very physical long ball game and tbf the boys could have won by more.. Some good performances and ( I think the) goals were from Elijah and Jon..

    Blackburn 1 Fulham 2 (U18s)

For the record the team was :

Norman; Fossey, Davies, Opoku, Sessegnon; Adeniran, O'Riley (Thomas 88'); Nabay, Kwietniewski, Thorsteinsson; Adebayo

Unused subs: Walker, Ashby-Hammond, Paton, Jenz

    And the brief write-up from the Club is also worthy of note, not least because of the "special mentions";

"Goals from Elijah Adebayo and Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson earned Fulham Under-18s a 2-1 win at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Adebayo put Steve Wigley’s side in front in the 29th minute, when he converted a low cross from Ryan Sessegnon. The Whites should have increased their advantage just after the hour mark when Adebayo won a penalty after he was fouled in the box. Mikolaj Kwietniewski took the spot-kick but missed. Fulham did make it 2-0 in the 72nd minute, however. Matt O’Riley curled in a free-kick from the right and Thorsteinsson lost his marker to volley in.

Rovers substitute Alex Curran ensured a nervy last few minutes when he scored in stoppage time, firing home the rebound after Joseph Grayson’s free-kick had come back off the post.

    Fulham 1 Liverpool 5 (U18s)

Think we just put this one down to a "Dallas Hangover". The team was:

Norman; Fossey, Opoku (Jenz 37'), Davies, Sessegnon; Adeniran, O'Riley (Pearce 56'); Nabay, Kait (Harris 50'), Thorsteinsson; Adebayo

    Unused subs: Ashby-Hammond, Thomas

"The Whites made a positive start, Marlon Fossey whipping in a cross in the first minute but no-one was there to meet it. Liverpool then got on top, Magnus Norman making a good save and Ryan Sessegnon clearing a shot off the line in the 15th minute. Norman made another fine stop in the 27th minute as a sluggish Fulham, perhaps feeling the effects of their Dallas Cup exertions, got to the break with the scores level.

The Reds, though, were in front shortly after the restart, a half-volley from the edge of the box flying into the far corner. It was 2-0 in the 54th minute. Jayden Harris gave the ball away and a Reds player beat Moritz Jenz to the loose pass to score with a cool finish. Fulham could have pulled one back in the 66th minute when a cross from Fossey found Isaac Pearce but he ballooned the ball over from six yards.

But two minutes later, Fulham did find the target, Aron Davies heading home a corner at the far post.

Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson and Jenz then went close as Fulham found some energy but it was Liverpool who found the next goal in the 72nd minute when they broke away from a Whites attack and scored from the edge of the box. It was 4-1 on 86 and a Jenz mistake then allowed a Liverpool player in on goal in the dying seconds for the fifth on an afternoon to forget for Steve Wigley’s side

    Fulham 0 Chelsea 2

Neither this report by the Club nor the result do the youngsters justice; based on an account of the match I was given by someone at the Cottage who had been to Motspur Park earlier.

"The first half was a fairly even encounter, with Fulham creating chances through individual skill from Cassian Thomas and then Luca de la Torre, but nobody in white was able to get on the end of their respective crosses. The Whites had a decent chance early in the second period when Marlon Fossey found space in the box. He managed to dribble beyond two defenders but then blazed his shot over from eight yards. The Blues responded immediately and made the breakthrough courtesy of Charlie Wakefield who cut in from the right and fired an unstoppable shot into the far corner.

Fulham went close to an equaliser after a scramble in the visitors’ box, but the visitors made it 2-0 when Ike Ugbo fired low following a Chelsea break. Mikolaj Kwietniewski should have done better when he shot high and wide from the edge of the box, before substitute Stephen Humphrys drew a good save from goalkeeper Jared Thompson. Humphrys then went through one-on-one but was denied five yards from goal as Fulham were left to rue a game of missed chances."

No team line-up available from the Club.

    Fulham 2 Everton 3 (U18s)

Nothing from the Club yet but the youngsters went down this morning at Motspur Park to a goal 3 minutes from the end. Our goals came from Stevie Humphrys and Ryan Sessegnon.

A plus was the promising Tayo Edun getting his first start after a lengthy absence with an injury.

Club report now in and I see young Matt O'Riley came on at half time. The team was:

Soutter; Fossey, Opoku, Thomas, Edun (Mundle-Smith 45'); Nabay, Jenz, Pearce (O'Riley 45'), Thorsteinsson, Sessegnon; Humphrys

"Everton stole the three points this morning at Motspur Park with an injury time winner to condemn Steve Wigley's side to their third defeat in a row in the Premier Academy League Elite Group. In a high tempo affair which saw Tayo Edun make a welcome return from injury for his first game since September. Fulham took the lead on 23 minutes when Marlon Fosseys deep free kick evaded everyone apart from Stevie Humphrys who's neat chest control gave him time to drive a low shot that went under the Everton keeper.

Everton responded and following concerted pressure on the Whites defence drew a penalty when Issac Pearce brought down the right winger. Fortunately the striker blazed over from the resulting spot kick. However, the visitors quickly put this disappointment behind them and were level on 29 minutes when Fulham lost the ball in midfield and a quick through ball saw the substitute striker lift the ball over Jake Soutter from the edge of the box to make it 1-1. This was the way it remained until half-time with the visitors the better side in the first half.

Fulham made 2 changes at the break with Matt O'Riley replacing Pearce and Jayden Mundle-Smith coming on for Edun. The impact was immediate with the Whites now much more fluid in midfield. From one excellent attack on 62 minutes, Stevie Humphrys crossed for Ryan Sessegnon to just head wide. Immediately Everton counter-attacked and the Whites defence was caught out by the blues left back who crossed for a tap in finish from the same substitute striker, 1-2. Back came Fulham and on 67 minutes a deep cross from Marlon Fossey found Ryan Sessegnon who stabbed the ball under the keeper from 6 yards, 2-2.

The game then went from end to end with Sessegnon, after a great run across the box, drawing an excellent save with his feet from the Everton keeper. The young Whites defence stood firm making a series of key blocks but in stoppage time Everton got in on the right and the wide man scored with a low shot from 8 yards to seal the win.

He did come on in centre mid and jayden came on as LB and I think we were unlucky in the second half..Played a cracker through to Ryan who was unlucky (good save from Keeper) and we hit the post a couple of times..But overall second half performance was excellent.. Shame about the result

    Reading 1 Fulham 2 (U18s)

A nice way to start the weekend and a jump up the League for the lads as they leapfrog Reading. The team was:

Lukwata; Harris, Opoku, Davies, Edun; O'Riley, Nabay (Thomas 63'); Kwietniewski (Pearce 75'), Humphrys, Thorsteinsson; Walker (Adebayo 61')

    Unused subs: Soutter, Mundle-Smith

"Josh Walker pounced on a mistake in the Reading defence to fire Fulham in front in the third minute. Humphrys blazed over soon after when he should have done better as the Whites came racing out of the blocks. Reading responded and a dangerous free-kick was cleared by Aaron Davies, before Josh Lukwata made a good save and Tayo Edun cleared the rebound. In the 25th minute great play saw Jayden Harris race down the right and find Mikolaj Kwietniewski, who was unmarked on the penalty spot, but saw his effort saved.

A good move 10 minutes later found Walker who rounded the keeper but with the angle too tight, pulled the ball back for Humphrys who had two shots blocked on the line. From the clearance, Kwietniewski tripped a Reading player in the box to earn the home side a penalty. However, the spot-kick was saved by Lukwata, who made another fine stop five minutes before the break.

The second half was a dour affair to start with, but substitute Cassian Thomas made a fine tackle to prevent Reading from breaking away after a Fulham corner just before the hour mark. The Royals, though, were level soon after when a cross from the right was tapped in from six yards. Humphrys fluffed his lines with 15 minutes left after being found by Harris. The right-back then went for goal after a driving run but his shot was saved in the bottom corner.

With the game heading for a draw, Stevie Humphrys grabbed the winner. The ball dropped to him on the edge of the box and the striker drove a low shot into the far corner. There was no time for the restart as the Whites took the three points.

Video of the goals. Bit of deja vu with our defence for theirs but great determination and strength by Stevie Humphrys for our winner.

    Manchester City 5 Fulham 0 (U18s)

Disappointing end to the season but City were the run away leaders in the table. And the youngsters can hold their head high with their performances over the season; finishing 5th out of 8 in the League and reaching the Dallas Cup final.

    The team today was:

Lukwata; Fossey, Opoku, Davies, Edun; O'Riley (Nabay 55'), Thomas; Thorsteinsson (Pearce 70'), Kwietniewski (Adebayo 55'), de la Torre; Humphrys

    Unused subs: Norman, Walker

"Josh Lukwata smothered a shot in the early stages of the game, but the hosts were in front in the 16th minute, Lukas Nmecha scoring from the spot after being brought down by the Fulham goalkeeper.

Paolo Fernandes’ dipping drive was saved by Lukwata five minutes later, before the same City player’s free-kick crashed off the crossbar. At the other end, the City keeper punched a free-kick straight to Mikolaj Kwietniewski but his first-time volley was saved just before the half-hour mark. Lukwata then had to be alert to make a decent stop as City countered. Kwietniewski sent an effort wide in the early stages of the second half, while Lukwata saved from Fernandes.

It was 2-0 to the hosts in the 55th minute. Jadon Sancho appeared to foul Marlon Fossey but the referee ignored Fulham’s appeals. The winger advanced into the box and planted a side-footed finish past Lukwata. It was 3-0 five minutes later when Nmecha applied a fine finish to the near post after a quick counter.

Lukwata then made a fine save, before Stephen Humphrys was denied by the City keeper. But City increased their lead in the 65th minute. Sancho got in again and his cross was turned into his own goal by a Fulham player. Whites substitute Elijah Adebayo had a shot deflected into the side-netting, but Lukwata was forced into another save soon after as City countered again
. City scored their fifth in the 79th minute. Jacob Davenport’s free-kick was pushed onto the bar by Lukwata but Sancho was there to chest in the rebound.

Jerome Opoku had a consolation ruled out when he was adjudged to have been offside and Adebayo thundered a header against the bar in the dying seconds

The lads drew both games 0-0. Noted: that's an impressive defensive record of 3 x clean sheets.

    And ...

    A place in tomorrow's semi-final.

The lads finished in 3rd place. Unfortunately they lost 2-0 to Red Bull Brasil in the semi-final. A bruising game which saw loads of yellow cards and us missing two penalties in the last 5 minutes. [Stevie Humphrys and the Jon-Dagur Thorsteinsson]

In the subsequent match though, the team picked themselves up and defeated Atletico Nacional (Columbia) 3-1 in a penalty shoot out; after it finished 0-0 at full time.
