Yes there is! I'm really looking forward to getting the Arsenal of old back: 18 years between championships in the 50s and 60s, average position 9th. Then 19 years in the wilderness, average position around 7th. Between my birth and turning 35 both Spurs and Arsenal had won the league once, we had almost exactly the same average league position and the only real difference was that Spurs had won ten other major trophies and Arsenal only three. Then a bit later your hired your best ever manager and we've been worse than you in every way since. Still the fact that over the past ten years you've finished about three places higher than your long term average while winning more other trophies than average is obviously a total disaster
Spoken like a true person who has absolutely no clue why most Arsenal fans want Wenger out. And thumbed up predictably by a Wengerite.
What if it happens, your players obviously have no bottle for the fight and no respect for lesser teams. If you get a new manager are you expecting a new squad as well?
I can't take your opinions about Wenger seriously. We shouldn't keep a manager now just because he used to be good over a decade ago. You don't think there is a legitimate reason why more and more fans are turning against him? And if you're going to say anything about being 'a victim of his own success' or that 'Arsenal fans are just spoiled', please don't waste your time because I'm not interested in reading that garbage.
Serious question, if Wenger left at the end of this season and you spent the next 3 years out of the top 4 would you be calling for the new managers head also? I ask this because we at United are hoping to get rid of van Gaal asap, not because we have won nothing but because of the dire football we have played. Do you just want glory or are you looking for better football?
Wenger a decade ago is easily your best manager since the 1930s. Wenger over the last 10 years is way better than your average. Why do you expect to find someone better than that?
You cry babies should go join this forum. http://www.arsenaltalk.net/ They fist pump (and probably fist eachother) every time the opposing team scores, want our club to break down in a similar fashion to Wimbledon and disappear into the lower divisions. Yet still call themselves Arsenal fans. You would be right at home among that lot of 'supporters'.
Fergie knew when to pack it in, at the top. Wenger is living in hope that he can come back again to former glories. Its not the last 10 or 20 years that count, its whats happened during the last 6 months that are really relevant. The signs ain't good.
The way in which you measure Wenger's success is incredibly flawed. Who we had as manager in the 1930s is irrelevant to the here and now. The dynamics of football and especially Arsenal Football Club have changed a lot in that timeframe. To try and compare our average league position from the early 1900's to now is intellectually dishonest, frankly. Absurd comparison. Why do I think we can find someone better than that? Because he doesn't address problems within the team and blames the fans for his own negligence. Simple.
None of my comparisons is before my lifetime. All I am saying is that the performance of Arsenal in the last 10 years would be above average over the 50 preceding years. You are very competitive in the league and winning more cups than usual. Just look at Spurs, Liverpool and Everton over the last ten years if you want to see what happens to a big club with an average manager. Its much more likely than not that replacing Wenger will lead to you doing worse. If you are happy taking the risk then fine with me.
TBH it would be far better if you along with Piskie disappear, the delusional Wenger brigade need to go along with him.
Love how the delusional one Piskie is liking those comments, the guy just proves he is content with our position, and then he lies in other posts saying that he isn't happy and wants more, the guy is full of ****. He's your typical deluded Wengerite happy at this stale Arsenal, for him top 4 is an 'achievement', those are his own words, so he is more than content with the current situation, consistent top 4 finishes is good enough for him, because who needs to win leagues, properly compete in Europe and win the damn thing once, nah, all is swell, because we keep getting top 4.
It's very good, hope the relationship breaks down further after today, and hope the protests are good, hope the relationship turns as toxic and sour as ever, and then the ****er can finally **** off. , hopefully he takes the blind deluded Wengerites with him, because at the end, they're just as bad as him, Wengerites are not real Arsenal supporters, they're just blind cultist followers of Wenger.
Why Coquelin has been dropped for Ramsey is absolutely beyond me. Giroud starting yet again is another ridiculous decision, given that he hasn't scored in the last 12 games. What is the point?
I think it is a weak argument to compare Arsenal in the 1970s to Wenger's Arsenal and use that as a basis why we should not hold Wenger to scrutiny. I think most Arsenal fans want Wenger to do well. The issue most Wenger's critics have is that we have stood still. You could argue stagnation is better then going behind. Furthermore, Wenger has done the same thing over and over again, and quite frankly cannot see our fortunes changing. It feels like we have been caught in a time warp, each new season resembles the previous.
Hopefully we just put in a good performance and just get the win, that's all we want, not much to ask for when you're playing a team in the bottom zone and at home.
