The whole thing is an unfunny joke, people that cannot afford a suscription to watch F1 on evil Murdoch's system will suffer. Sad thing really. You are right Silver.

The teams want clarification, says Autosport.

Whitmarsh, especially, has been vocal on maintaining the free-to-air aspect.

Of course if they block this the BBC could withdraw completely and leave us on channel 4.

Previously you could get a cheap 'SKY' type dish, buy a FREESAT box (£140?) - and hey you have ALL races on HD (also need a HD-ready TV).

I am still vainly hoping that Bernie is just using this as a negotiation tool or something.

Welcome back Genji and Silver!

Are the beeb working their way through showing every sport known to man before then getting rid of it? It's reminiscent of a small child that wants every toy under the sun before they soon get bored of it and forget about it.

Clearly, they're too busy concentrating (and doing a damn fine job) on those ridiculous dance shows and the depressing, bile inducing tat like Eastenders.

*sigh*

Probably the most expensive way of getting Sky Sports 1 & 2 will be on Freeview. Think it's £20 for SS1 and £30 for SS1 & 2. Silly prices but if satelite is not an option this would be the best bet.

Can I still use freesat or, is that option down the drain, i'm not making my parents fork out £100's for F1.

I switch to FREESAT (for HD ) instead of aerial BBC 1.
Presumably it will continue next year.......

I bought the HUMAX box a couple of years ago. was £140 - now £130?
There are much cheaper ones. If you get a sky type dish - you can aim it at the Satellite from the ground (if you have a line-of-sight).

This could be my last season as an F1 fan, I don't see the point in watching the coverage as it's proposed. I'm not going to scratch around for live feeds online, why should I. It's just sickening what's Sky has done for TV coverage in the UK, I remember the days of watching Test Match cricket and now the F1's gone it seems like I'm just going to have find other interests.

Maybe they can sort something else out if lots of people object Manny but I'm not hopeful.

Is it me, or have they changed their tune somewhat from what they were saying a few weeks ago when the idea was first reported in the media?

If you already have Sky you can upgrade to the full sky sports package for around £20 extra a month and i think it's an extra £9 a month if you just want SS1 <ok>

Personally I think this is a terrible move, the BBC coverage is fantastic and now we will (well some of us) will have to pay an extra £240 a year to watch the F1 and there will be adverts in the middle of races!

they (FOM) should have let news corp takeover F1 fully. i do not have sky sports, howerver this is not the problem. the porblem is last month they stay f1 would stay on free 2 view tv, howerver this was cleary BS. if you being on the sky sports news, you could see there this story today was planned for months. money is more important that viewer numbers too them. i hope british based team understand that they will be most effected comapred to other non-british teams.

Just spotted on F1Fanatic that you can contact FOTA here and the BBC’s complaints department here.

I'm going to let them know exactly what I think.
