Well Hamilton has won this race in every "odd" year he's been in f1. And had a problem in every "even" year. It could be his race, but I cant see it happening, Mclaren lack the downforce.

Mclaren have lacked downforce ever since the new regs in 2009 and yet Hamilton still won it in that year and Button was very fast at Monaco this year, so I do think that Mclaren could have a good weekend, although they are of course going to face huge competition from Red Bull and Alonso.

Despite picking webber, i have a weird feeling RBR may struggle. It's a circuit they should dominate at, but so was silverstone, and look how that turned out.

Yeah but that was when they had those new EBD rules. Now they have gone back to Valencia-Spec.

Yeah, but look ate germany. They were using valencia spec cars then, and red bull still only finished 3rd and 4th.

I think they've been passed. Personally, i thin ferrari now have the best car, and the best driver to go with it. Not an alonso fan, but he is still the best.

I disagree. I think Ferrari and McLaren will be close, but Red Bull will get pole by at least 3 tenths.

That middle sector is Red Bull ground. Remember last year they were something like 8 tenths faster in that sector alone than anyone else.

But they were faster because of the flexi front wing. I too think Ferrari will be the best. In all races except cold ones where Mclaren should be the best. Next year, Red Bull shall not prevail <laugh>

Next year, i'm backing the top 3 to be Ferrari, Mclaren, and Mercedes.

Just checked temperatures for the weekend and am re-thinking my Alonso selection, looks like it could be cooler than I thought, will stick with Alonso for now but I think it's going to be very close between him and Hamilton, also uncertain as to what Vettel's issues are and whether it will be business as usual again for him.

Is it still "Red Bull ground"?

Sector 2 of Silverstone is full of high speed corners (off-throttle exhaust blowing wasn't effective in S2) and Ferrari matched Red Bull in qualifying and were half a second quicker in the race. Some could still make a case that the ban hurt Red Bull and Ferrari's pace was a fluke. So then I look at Sector 2 of the Nurburgring, where Red Bull dominated followed by Ferrari and then McLaren.

But does that indicate Red Bull have the most downforce?

We know that temperatures were low and Red Bull get's heat into it's tyres quickly. Meanwhile Ferrari has trouble getting the tyres to optimal temperature. According to Mark Hughes, Alonso's tyres in qualifying were 15 degrees below optimal temperature. Despite that huge disadvantage, he qualified only 3 tenths slower than the fastest Red Bull. Perhaps that's why Alonso was smiling after qualifying. He would have known if his tyres weren't up to temperature.

I suggest everyone reads Hughes' article, paying particular attention to the last 2 sentences. Except for one thing: current forecasts say it is going to be dry...

Webber gets heat into his tyres quickly, Vettel doesn't.

Im predicting a Vettel win, although i half fancy Alonso to put the car 2nd or 3rd in Quali, and win the race with a Red Bull podium behind him.

Mercedes still have their pace... still around the 7th place mark, good to see.
If MSC can edit out the mistakes he can go on to beat Rosberg consistently in the races, he is looking good here in Hungary.
