So you've finished behind us for several seasons, 20 to be accurate and for once you might actually finish ahead of us.

You're right that one season means nothing. You have to finish ahead of us season after season to prove you've caught up and overtaken us.

Based on the past 5-10 years, a points difference of +6 would have been the safer bet.
There were even grounds for betting on a negative points diff this season.

He knows! But as usual, he just has to try and get the last word in. Even if that last word is total bollocks.

I made the market as I saw it at the time, and did say that prices would go up and down.
As it happened no-one wanted to have a fun bet !

What part of you finishing below us for 20 years is bollocks ? What part of this season being the first time you might achieve it, is bollocks ? What part of you having to repeat it again and again to prove you've overtaken us is bollocks seeing as you're all agreeing that one season means nothing ?

It's been explained enough times already, and not just by me. For the sake of other regular posters I'm not going through it again.

You have, and continue to ignore the very obvious point being made. As I'm sure you're aware.

If spurs finish above arsenal this season and again in 16/17 and 17/18 then I would agree the power has shifted.

If, as I suspect they will, Arsenal sort themselves out in the summer, spend a few quid and normality resumes with them finishing comfortably above spurs, then this season will go down as a blip and nothing more.

And you are ignoring the very obvious point that Spurs have achieved **** all so far. When you've proved you can do it season upon season, then you might have a point.

Seeing as this tiresome "debate" is going to outlive us all, this is my view as a neutral who couldn't give a lazy toss about either of the North London clubs.

This season is a one off...Spurs do not have the squad, resources, ambition or fan base to regularly outperform Arsenal. They are about to finish second in the league with a points total that must be one of the lowest for a second placed team in the history of the PL. They were also handed their arses in spectacular fashion by Dortmund so they know their place in the European hierarchy. The squad isn't that great, the manager has a lot to learn (and seems to already be angling for a move), developing the new stadium is going to cripple the club financially (ironically in the same way that it crippled Arsenal and allowed Spurs to dream of a "power shift") the owner has never shown any indication that he will dig deep to strengthen the squad (despite the fact that he's hugely wealthy), and so unfortunately Spurs fans I think this is as good as it's going to get for the forseeable future.

Yes I know United are ****.

I looked at the historical trend (which was not subject to weekly fluctuation) over the past decade.
I also was surprised to see how pronounced the Wenger slump into stagnation was, and also the
correlation on managerial churn at Spurs.

We'll agree to disagree. We have a young and very talented squad, with a young and very talented manager. Yes, we have to hold on to what we've got and add wisely to strengthen the squad, but assuming we do that we won't be dismissed quite as easily as you or a certain one eyed Gooner would like to wish.

In a couple of years we will have the largest club football stadium in London.

Stop press: Pochettino agrees new contract extension to 2021! Sorry boys, but looks like we'll be upsetting your cosy little party for some time yet!...

Thank you for bringing that excellent news. Must admit to a little nervousness on that score

"It was an easy decision when you feel the love of the people and the potential of the club is massive, so why change?" he said.

Until he leaves for PSG. He was also quoted as saying he wants to go to Paris (not just to see the Eiffel Tower) and that it is a part of his dreams.

I think he'll be with you next season and possibly the one after, but I think he's made it clear when his long term future lies.

You're not entitled to an opinion and you should be quiet, though.
We know because your manager said so! <laugh>

If this season constitutes a shift in power from Arsenal to a Spurs takeover ( if they finish above The Gunners and that's not a given yet ) then I guess under the same theory , there is a shift from all the top teams to Leicester as the strongest team in the Premier if they not only finish above those teams but outright win it .....can't have it both ways ... Spurs will have to bow to the Foxes as the " New Dynasty " .

The Spurs are the biggest sellers there are , what makes you think a good chunk of you're " Young " team won't be sold

That's bollocks also. No top player of Spurs has ever been sold willingly by us under Levy. They have only ever been sold after demanding transfers. And, in some well documented cases, going on strike. When that happens the only choice is to sell for as much as you can get!..
