So how many days before Sky Sports News link him with the Man Utd job again?

Love this quote from him (pasting it everywhere at the moment!)

"It was an easy decision when you feel the love of the people and the potential of the club is massive, so why change?" he said.

“I believe in the club, our players, our staff and supporters and for that I say yes to stay here and extend the contract because I believe in this project and club and the energy and history and I want to stay here for that.”

It's really not all about money for everyone. If you can build something that is yours, the satisfaction is far greater than taking over someone else's work. At Spurs he has a 'once in a lifetime' chance to build a club to his standards and design. In 10, 15 or 20 years he can retire from football and manage PSG.

I can't help feel the timing of this announcement comes as great leadership. Any doubts are set-aside. We go to divided Chelsea as a collective, cohesive force.

I've just seen on Sky Sports that Ossie and Ricky were with Mauricio Pochettino today after the press conference. Coincidence? Possibly. Although I believe that the love and respect that our club has with 2 members of the '78 World Cup squad and they have for us is a factor. Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about meeting with Ossie and Daniel Levy and the singing of songs when we win something. Again, today he has referred to the club's history. That's coming from somewhere and I'd bet it's got fair bit to do with Ossie who is known to be close to Mauricio.

I recall Ossie's gentlemanly behaviour in '82 when he took a sabbatical at PSG (another link). It's worth recalling Ricky's actions at the same time. He wasn't allowed to be picked for the '82 FA Cup Final because of events elsewhere. Ricky stayed. He was at Wembley although it must have been a difficult thing for him being excluded. I saw him in the tunnel area for the replay and there were chants of "Argentina, Argentina" At which he beamed a huge smile and waved at us.

From those boys to origin of the saying 'As Sick as a Parrot', we've long had a great relationship with Argentina. Long may it continue!

I met David Price, former Gooner and Palace, a few years ago. He told me Ricky was the toughest, strongest player he ever played against. Come to think of it, he was the Mousa Dembele prototype.

    Fantastic news!
Hopefully a few other players will follow suit now.
Completely agree with what Brian said above. - great leadership and sets an excellent example as to what his intentions are. Amazing news for everyone associated with the club, and for those who may be interested in joining us...

  20. Don't think for a minute that he won't now sign a 5 yr contract - but if he does then leaves, the compensation coming our way will likely pay for the stadium!!
    WIN - WIN!! <laugh>
