Agree on why cross it... I feel it was genuine lack of quality. work 1/2s around box. run at people fall over... do anything but cross it with no striker on. Agree they are ordinary. they lack pace to really be impressive. they are just well organised. don't agree we will be too strong. 1. allen, lucas in CM, 2. looking weak at back as well, upfront we look tired. don't agre eo nthier goal.. the gaps left by others exposed toure. that should not have happened in injury time. it was poor. They took it well but the point is they'd not coughed one up like that. The reality is had allen not bounced the ball twice form 12 yards with side foot huge chance we'd have killed them on counter... thats the difference and all the allen cultists and forgiver of others should realise that getting real quality on pitch is where big games are won and lost.
someone is in for a shock.. Tihs lot are going massed defense and it'll be more like send hallf chelsea 2013/14 than second half dortmund 2015/16
I don't think so. This lot are nowhere near the quality of Chelsea 2013/14. They lost a key CB too. I seriously don't think they'll be able to hold out at Anfield, they'll bottle it. We have plenty to throw at them, and they're yet to get a taste of Sturridge.
I've only just come back on and haven't read the reaction (or quite possibly overreaction- knowing you lot) so I'll just give my opinion and leave it at that. We'd have probably considered that a decent away performance in Europe if we hadn't have conceded a silly one at the end. Klopp has worked wonders with this squad in terms of self -belief and commitment, but still needs to hone his tactics, imo. We have consistently struggled to close out a game from a satisfactory position and are still too gung-ho at the wrong time. I still back him to get this right, especially when he brings in some of his own players, but so far it has cost us a bit. It was a bad goal to concede, with so many players too high at such a stage of the game, but we could have been in a better position if we hadn't been so toothless up front earlier. However, one down back at Anfield is not a catastrophe, and we seem to play better with our backs to the wall - when we get too comfortable we nod off a bit.
they can defend... look at thier record. I hope we score early but the damage is already done for me so I won't be as disappointed if we fail. I think you will be though... thats seriously high expectations out of a midfield and defense we've ende dup with due to injuries. Lord knows henderson, can and sahko are not world beaters but lucas allen and toure won't be scaring their players at all. coutinho looked uncomfortable all half and now we need him to recover fully in 6 days... thats not ideal either. its up hill for me and self inflicted too.. so if we smash them 3-0 i'll be way happy and you'll be... meh told you..... I think i'll prefer being whohoo hoo that n that.
agree. 0-0 would be a ok we can do this. in the 70s and 80s 0-0 away virtually assured going through. agree on gung ho. there should have been 4 up late on and rest back... agree we have a chance but its uphill for me. agree we were totally toothless
I don't like criticising young players (believe it or not!) but what the hell is going on with Ibe? That was potentially one of the worst sub appearances I've seen.
Villarreal are extremely tough at home - but away is a different proposition. They've conceded 3 goals in a match 6 times this season. The biggest issue is that goal we conceded because now they can do what they do best which is sit deep and defend. We still have enough quality in attack to score.
We just spent a whole game trying to break down two deep lines of 4 with no success, but people now think we will be able to score past them with ease? They will defend this sh!t out of the game next week and look to get us on the counter again.
Not playing for a win or at least a score draw was a ****up IMO How big a ****up depends on the Coutinho situation, having to take him off forced Klopp's hand to some extent The starting XI was fine, basically the one that ripped Man City away apart, it's the subs or lack of where the questions are
Toure looked like a spectator looking up at the ball , when you're the last man back it's more important to just run with the attacker than it is to stargaze . As a defender in such a case , you get a general trajectory of the ball and turn and run with the attacker . Try running a 50 yard dash while looking up focusing , and then a straight 50 yard dash looking only at the finish line ..... The time difference will shock you . If Toure didn't look up focusing on the ball and just ran it would have hit behind him IMO.
That was one element to it - Moreno getting the brunt of criticism but there were so many lapses from other players. All round poor defending. Lucas continues to piss me off.
Moreno was caught up the pitch, but that ball was played into the CB's area, and even if he'd have been back in position and level with Toure, I don't think he'd have been able to have impacted that play tbh. That said he was your weak link defensively all night and they continually tried to put the ball in behind him.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying absolve him of any blame - he was at fault but for that goal in particular, there were bigger problems, most notably the lack of a midfield. In terms of Moreno's positioning - it's suicidal for that stage of the game HOWEVER, Clyne was actually further up the pitch than Moreno. Unless we have two brain dead full backs, I suspect Klopp instructed them to continue attacking.
IMO , Liverpool's biggest problem is averaging a game every 4 days over the last 150 days ....quite an ask .
