Pretty sure what the guy meant was Duckenfield never intended to kill 96 people (his interpretation of accident). However, that's the difference between manslaughter and murder isn't it?

It certainly can't be classed as a accident. The 96 never intended on attending a football match to die either!

I already agreed with the lad that he never got up that morning with the intent to injure anybody or for anyone to be killed, but that doesn't make his actions on the day accidental.
Negligence is not accidental as far as I know?

Hillsborough: Embarrassment for South Yorkshire Police as acting top cop steps down - after one day

© PA Dawn Copley is decorated with the Queen's Police Medal by Prince William at Buckingham Palace, London during an Investiture ceremonyA senior police officer promoted to take the place of suspended South Yorkshire chief constable David Crompton will no longer take the position - over allegations of misconduct with another force.

Dawn Copley was accused of “corrupt practice” while with Greater Manchester Police by another officer who was later sacked.

She will now not take up the temporary position as acting chief constable at South Yorks police, and will revert to her position as its deputy chief.

It marks another embarrassing moment for the force, which was this week slammed for its failings which led to the deaths of the Hillsborough victims and how its lawyers acted at the inquests.

Mr Crompton was suspended over an “erosion of trust” after the force was criticised for rowing back on its 2012 public apology following the release of the Hillsborough Independent Panel report.

Dr Alan Billings, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “Yesterday, I asked Deputy Chief Constable Dawn Copley to temporarily act as Chief Constable following the suspension of David Crompton.

“There has been media comment today about Mrs Copley. I would like to make clear that Mrs Copley fully declared the details of allegations into her conduct when she applied for the post of Deputy Chief Constable here at South Yorkshire Police.

“As this matter has not yet been concluded I am unable to comment publicly on the allegations and the outcome but as soon as I am able, I will do so.

“In the meantime Mrs Copley has my full support. However, Mrs Copley has made clear to me that she does not want any further negative publicity or criticism to be levelled at the Force.

“In the interests of the Force and the workforce she has therefore offered to step back to her substantive role to allow me to seek support from the College of Policing in identifying another Chief Officer from outside the Force to act as Temporary Chief Constable until a recruitment process can take place.”

Mr Crompton, who is suspended, previously said he had taken “appropriate advice” ahead of Ms Copley’s appointment last October.

Ms Copley was in charge of the GMP’s professional standards branch which investigated chief inspector John Buttress over an alleged mortgage fraud.

He was cleared at trial but later dismissed for gross misconduct.

Mr Buttress claimed he was the victim of “corrupt practice” within the force’s anti-corruption unit and complained about misconduct within the force.

Kent Police conducted an investigation and its findings were given to GMP for consideration.

Mr Billings said he was not aware of the GMP investigation prior to her appointment.

He said: “Mrs Copley will need to stay in post for a very short period of time, to deal with pressing matters, but, at her request, this will be for the shortest possible period.

“Events have moved very quickly over the last few days. I am sorry that I cannot say anything more definite at this time but we have been working closely with national bodies about these issues and hope to make a further announcement in the coming days.”

A banner reading "Justice at last - 96 - brothers in arms" is unfurled as Goodison gives lengthy and hugely emotional applause for Margaret Aspinall, Jenni Hicks and other relatives of Liverpool supporters who died at Hillsborough out on the pitch right now.

It was a brilliant show of genuine caring and solidarity from the Blues, Bill Kenwright deserves a special mention, he's been a great ambassador for EFC with regards to the aftermath of Hillsborough.<applause>

Considering the inquests weren't the end of the entire conclusion of the Hillsborough justice campaign this thread should have continued to be stickied in my humble opinion because there is plenty more to come regarding private procecutions etc.
Ok you mods decide on its importance but I feel we're letting the families and survivors down by keeping less important threads stickied and this one not.

Just my humble opinion and if I've offended anyone I apologise.<ok>

Like I said dev, I don't want to push the issue but I feel that something so important to the club and supporters deserves to be stickied until if and whenever it finally comes to a conclusion.

    Cheers mate.<ok>

No worries. I wouldn't have unstickied it and I'd have argued against it. As far as I'm concerned it should remain there until at least Duckenfield is hanging!
