WATFORD v ASTON VILLA Back to the Prem now having lost the F.A. Cup semi final Watford can finally guarantee safety and Prem status for next season, Fez below explains the details a bit more eloquently: Villa on the other hand, are having a mare of a season. Losing ten of their last ten games, their poor fans must be suffering. Rumours about QSF´s future are rife and I sure hope the players and fans give him a great send of IF he does go. There is only one more home game after this. Watford should expect to beat Villa, everyone has this season. All that remains now is to finish well and get as many points on the board as possible...despite a few bumps along the way, Watford have had a decent season. Thanks for the thread Mex. Shame that this week has been so flat after that semi final defeat and the rumours about QSF. Will the players be able to get themselves fired up, and will they be able to inspire the fans? There is still the fact that finishing a place or two higher is worth a lot of money. With Villa having such a miserable season it will be amazing if they bring many fans with them. Think Villa have sold out! (2,100). Think they've just gone a bit crazy now and are getting right behind their club.
Team I would like to see on Saturday Deeney Guédioura...............Jurado..........Amrabrat or Berghuis Watson.....Suárez Ake......................Prodl.....Britos.....................Cathcart Gomes Bench..Pantilimon..Berhami..Anya..Igahlo..Abdi..Nyom..Amrabrat or Berguis Will give Deeney a chance to scores goals as opposed to creating them for Igahlo to waste Any thoughts

Thanks Mex, great thread. Though AV have beaten one team this season...Bournemouth on the opening day. I can see us throwing this one tbh. The QSF rumours are growing legs and it's only a matter of time til he's gone. Team selection should be 'one for the future', i think Duggie has it right but we won't see it, we will see the same old tired formation and line up and Villa, having nothing to play for, might just go for it and snatch it. The only saving grace is that last season, even when managers were in and out the door, the team managed to keep going so hopefully with that mentality we might just grab a couple more points before the end of the season. I can't see us getting many now so this is really our only chance for 3, as i see it. Sunderland and Norwich will be all out for the points, and the way we've been playing, we don't stand a chance against Liverpool. That said, obviously we are going to win 3-1. Ha.!
For a minute there I thought you had Deeney in goal... I advocated for Cathcart at RB a while ago - of the three he's probably the most versatile to adapt. Guedioura appears to be the only one we have at the moment who is capable of delivering a telling cross into the box, so the prospect of him providing service for an up-front Deeney is surely a must. I haven't seen much of Berghuis so can't really compare him to Amrabat - but Amrabat has pace, likes running at defences with the ball and would surely draw the Villa defence away, leaving gaps for Deeney to exploit. Sounds good to me,
But, as Hornette says he will probably play the same teams and tactics as at Wembley Luckily I renewed my season tickets earlier, if not I would be thinking twice unless we finished with a flourish However, in our second season under the Pozzos we lost our last four games and looked totally demoralised but won promotion the next season through the combined efforts of four managers The futures bright, the future is Yellow
Merson says there's not a lot between the two teams...just the 25 points and 29 more goals conceded Paul...
to be honest, in the second half of the season he's not far off...perhaps our lot just have a bit more spirit, but when played in wrong positions and a system that doesn't work, and a pace that a tortoise could play at, spirit doesn't get us very far!
I still don't believe we're anywhere near Villa's standard - especially defensively, and in many ways it's our defensive play and HG that have kept us up.
Haven't put a prediction in yet. I think they'll play for Quique tomorrow and it'll be a good win 3-0. COYH!
