Newcastle away 6-2 when they were ****e and in a bad place. Shocked the **** out of me, awful awful awful!
The answer to the question, "can Norwich stay up" is yes, they can! Whether they WILL, is another matter entirely!
Looking back, that was unforgivable as well, but we did look like we were able to put in a result like that at any time, and we didn't know for sure how good or bad teams would be this season. We didn't know Newcastle would be the team they have been this season. They spent a lot of money.
After signing Kahzri and Kirchoff Sam has changed our team and having Defoe makes a huge difference, plus Watmore is an excellent sub, that SHOULD be why we stay up, as they have turned into battlers.
I'd love that to be true but this season has been crazy and I still think all 3 teams go in level with Newcastle if anybody having a slight advantage with the next 2 teams they are playing
To me we lost it by the following results:- 1. Losing at a pisspoor Villa who are terrible 2. Losing a 2 goal lead to West ham and drawing 3. Losing a 2 goal lead to the Scousers and then losing Net cost of the above is 8 points and would accept losing to Sunderlandin that equation. Disappointing!
You can always cherry pick matches as the cause, but it's the season as a whole that matters in the end. Who expected us to take much from ManUtd away, ManCity at home and West Brom away, but we took 7 points from those. You could easily produce a list of matches where we've been screwed by poor refereeing (Palace at home and away, Chelsea's off-side goal, Sunderland's foul before their second goal and so on), and no, I don't think these things even out over a season.
Good post RER, but I do think you can point to anywhere you have a two goal lead - in the Premier League no team should be drawing let alone losing when two goals up. So while those two games aren't necessarily what will have decided our impending relegation, they are definitely unforgivable in a way that, say, going to Watford and not really showing up you have to shrug off and say it happens sometimes.
I totally appreciate that Rick, but as Rob has said above the two goal lead scenarios are telling and damming. The Villa result was an obvious one but you are quite right, it falls into the 'evens itself out over a season' line, which is countered by the Man U result for sure. In truth, I just found those 3 results listed so galling that I had to post it. And KEMP, I totally understand your point too.
