I would be tempted to close this thread but we all deserve to see what other crackers Dai comes up with
You could argue that all strikes are political, but I assume that you are saying that the BMA are taking this action because they are facing a Tory government. Perhaps the other parties wouldn't propose such radical changes to peoples working conditions and thus wouldn't have incited strike action.
I should let my wife post on this thread, I won't even debate this with her, she's pissed off big time. As @ValleyGraduate12 has said its not about salary but working conditions. She's working on Tomorrow and is dreading going in knowing how much Junior doctors do, so all I say is I hope Dai doesn't go into Southampton's intensive care unit.
Grow up kids ffs. im not the only one that think these pampered twats are taking the piss.....Tell the families who have lost a relative today because of their greedy attitude because there will be a few that's a fact.....they get two full days off a week with a generous pay hike and that is more than the rest of the nation had got....They don't deserve nothing else they have had a good deal......Holding the country to ransom is wrong and wait until they finish their training you will see most of them deserting the NHS for jobs abroad just like countless others before them......
Yep I get that PGF, but by 'political' I mean that the BMA have previously had an opportunity to sort this out by returning to the table but have refused to call off the action. That tells me they are making a political point rather than have the interests of their members at heart and are not seriously trying to resolve the issue. I actually think that both the BMA and the Government have seriously mishandled this and now nobody wants to back down. Whether you agree with the Government or not these changes were in their manifesto and they have a majority. That's democracy. If you look at the data it's a fact that you are more likely to die if you get admitted to hospital on the weekend in an emergency. That's still the case in Wales. However, I do think that the whole thing has been badly handled by a Government who thinks at can bully its way into getting the result it wants by brow-beating people into submission. They've done the same with the legal profession (as did Labour) but of course, nobody cares about lawyers.
Where's the evidence that someone's lost a relative because of the strike? As I understand it the consultants were covering A&E - not only is the cover better than normal the A&E departments have been quieter than usual. You're making a serious allegation there without any evidence. Par for the course.
Have you any evidence to support such absurd and slanderous claims? For a Labourite, you sure seem to soak up the Tory bullshit Dai.
Can I be the one to practise my open-heart surgery on Dai. I was a dustman once (in the holidays) so I am well qualified. I have said on another thread that you guys must lose the will to live, having to deal with this muppet day in, day out. If ever there was a case for euthanasia, this is it.
I think BMA have been back to the table, the initial strike action was called off in Feb because of ongoing talks. ACAS have also been involved but even that failed to resolve the issue. This is the first time BMA have got to this stage so these actions are unprecedented. I'm hoping that the Government wont impose the contract as that could see even more of our home trained doctors flying off to Canada, Australia USA etc.
You crack on!! I'm sure many on here will be happy to assist during the op. I fancy being the anesthetist.
