Pompey 1-0 up at half time.

Michael Smith goal after 35 minutes, made by Kal Naismith.

Second half sees Brian Murphy replacing Paul Jones in goal - presumably he suffered an injury. in the first half.

Rees Murphy replaces ex Pompey winger Andy Barcham for the Wombles. Thank goodness is wasn't Adebayo "The Beast" Akinfenwa coming on - that would have put the fear of God up our defence !!

Gary Roberts has twice gone close to scoring, as has Kal Naismith. We really could do with a second goal here !

3 minutes plus added time to go.....

Full time whistle, and it's 1-0 to Pompey.

Three points, a clean sheet, and a guaranteed play-off position.

A good night all round for PFC.

Going into the play-offs with a surge of form. Pompey need to keep the momentum going with 5 more straight wins. I feel Pompey are going to enjoy the end of the regular season and the play-offs. My reasoning being that the objective was to get to this stage. The pressure is off whilst for two of the 4 teams chasing the automatics may well feel deflated after coming so close.

Hang on who re-wrote the script for tonight then? You managed to hang on for a win this time? WT F is going on for christ sake.

It's quite funny when you look around the boards at the teams who might have got automatic but are now play off material. All the different posts about the play offs being the target really so it's all ok and what a great chance this one or that one has in it. Am I the only person who thinks the play offs are a pain in the arse and I don't want my team in it?

Pretty much, but we know any L2 team we meet at Wembley is going to think it's another away match due to numbers.

What are the chances of Plymouth, Rovers, Oxford and Accrington all losing at the weekend, I wonder.

To be honest if such a scenario were to happen you can guarantee we'd only draw (or lose 1-0).

I dunno pompeymeowth there are clubs in the running that if they get to Wembley might just equal your lot. We would take more than a handful and so would Rovers I think. Two out of the three would probably set a play off record for league 2.

Very fair point Greeny...both Rovers and Argyle have impressed me with their away following.....I'll say this much, whoever we end up facing in the play offs it will be bloody tough going. Am I fan of them....no....but it's what I thought we should at least make at the start of the season - so Target 1 achieved........Target's 2 & 3 are the key ones though.

It so happens I will be in London on 30th May on holiday.
Do you think it will be a sellout crowd at Wembley if Pompey get into the final.?
If not what would be the best way to get a ticket?
Of course some negotiation with Mrs Downunder would be necessary to go to a football match while on holiday.
If the negotiations go badly is it likely the match would be telecast live in pubs etc?
    Guidance required please.

Have you adopted none of the local customs living in Aussie? Exactly what say would Mrs Downunder have? Can I also say your user name suits you but the wife might like her's changed.

No matter who gets there I think a sell out is unlikely. Failing that they do televise the matches but I don't know how much pub interest there would be in London for a league 2 game assuming that's where you would be.
