http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Fernandes-buy-QPR-100m.html?ito=feeds-newsxml This would appear to make sense, given his links to the Formula One world and obvious connections to Flav and Bernie. According to Wikipedia he's worth $330 million (£200 million). It's small change compared to Bernie and Mittal, so not sure there'd be too much cash to splash about. But given the current state of affairs, I'd take any new face before the season starts - especially if they can get on with the Mittals and get Bhatia back in.
so he's worth 200 million, and he's going to buy the club for 100 million? half his wealth? that doesnt seem to make sound business sense from his point of view... but there we go. have i got the wrong end of the stick here?
This was on Wikipedia... "In 2010, Forbes Asia valued Fernandes' personal wealth at $330 million ranking him at number 19 on the Forbes list of Malaysia's Richest." I doubt he'll be paying cash up front and must have money tied up all over the place.
Completely agree with you. Why would anyone spend half of their fortune on what historically has been a bad investment? What is his angle? He tried to buy into West Ham and, yes, tried to invest in Norwich. On top of that he has bought Caterham 7. They are only a couple of miles from me, I'll be able to pop down and say hello!
This should set the cat among the pigeons..... maybe we would be better off with Bernie and Flav who have Billions than this new bloke who won't have much to spend after he's spent half his wealth on the club..... just playing devil's advocate you understand!! Also, there doesn't seem to be any sign of the Russian!!?
What a choice - tight-fisted billionaires, or a guy with a fiver who's prepared to at least buy the pies....
I agree there's something about the huge percentage of this guy's personal wealth that he's apparently happy to pay to the Goons for control of the club, that doesn't make commercial sense. Football clubs aren't enormous money spinners unless, it seems, you pick one up cheap and fund its entrance to the Premier League like the Goons have done. I wouldn't put it past the Goons to show this guy around LR and then put his name out in the press to disguise the identity of the true buyer.
at the top right of wikki..in the little box. they say he's worth net - $470m. i think the personal fortune is 330. still, if he gives neil 10mil, who cares.
Sorry, that ian taylor is a WUM! @OfficialQPR QPR FC CAMPBELL BID ACCEPTED: #QPR have had a bid for Blackpool striker DJ Campbell accepted by the Seasiders. Player to discuss personal terms.
Weird one really, didn't Frenandes get laughed at by Brady/Gold/Sullivan after a half arsed WHU takeover? Why is this Hammers fan gonna suddenly spunk all his cash on a club he doesn't give two hoots about?
