Punchestown cards look poor all week. Gonna have a speculative ew punt on Morga in the 4.55, Danny Mullins up top.

Nothing poor about Vautour v. Simonsig. If you want to see poor, take a look at Brighton's card today.

I'll have a go at Southfield Royale, I think, in that 6.40.
Funny Oyster in this opener at Bath.

Taking a look further on, Life Less Ordinary in the 3.20 at Bath could be worth it.
And as I am on a nostalgia trip, seeing as this week marks my first anniversary of betting in earnest, I'm drawn to Hurry Home Poppa, 4.45 at Nottingham (in from 16's to 8's) and I wonder if Port Lairge can recall the liking for Brighton in the 4.40 that was evident during last year?

Being a Sheffield Wednesday fan, I have visited Hillsborough hundreds of times, both before and after the tragedy. If the families of the victims feel some sense of closure after today's verdict, then the whole thing has been worthwhile. From an objectivity standpoint though, the one glaring omission from the list of contributing factors has to be the fact that too many ticketless Liverpool fans were trying to get into the Leppings Lane enclosure. This was an all-ticket match, so anyone without a ticket shouldn't have been anywhere near the ground. If only the ticketed fans had been let into the enclosure, the tragedy would not have happened. The amount of tickets sold for that end would have been based on the safe capacity as declared by the Engineers. Those ticketless fans who were trying to get in were a contributing factor to both the initial crush outside the ground which prompted the police to open the gates, and also the resulting crush inside the ground. However today's verdict, which lists the stadium design, Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and South Yorkshire Police as the main contributors to the disaster, smacks of hindsight and completely ignores the fact that a number of people entered the stadium illegally and therefore created a situation where that end of the stadium was above its safe capacity.

Of course none of this will bring back those so tragically killed <rose>

I think it was the shameful reporting by the media, and the lies which came from the government infuriated the Liverpool people Oddy. So many mistakes were covered up, and the families left behind were made to feel there were burying criminals. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Delighted it's given them some vindication in their tireless campaigning but as you say it wouldn't bring them back.

Liverpool exempt by my statement of worldclass players <laugh>

I've nothing of interest today, punting wise. All too short and it's not really that good a card today to be honest. Underwhelming stuff in my view.

Have you seen the move for Tyners one? Halved from 50's. Strange one, i've it down as getting nowhere near the likely winner here but a very shrewd yard normally. They must be expecting the ground to improve him a fair bit...

Didn't today implicate the engineers too? I haven't had time to check it all but sure I read that issues with barriers and capacity figures were returned?
