Aye but Dick v Rafa ain't a realistic comparable really though mate given what Rafa has done in the game. He's got bag fulls of PL experience too.

Except for his first title in Spain, Rafa has always left the club in a lower league position than when he joined. He has a fantastic cup history but not league since the very early days

Virtually every manager leaves a club in worse league position than when he found them. Managers lose their jobs when their club is doing poorly, which sooner or later they always do. The only exceptions are those that quit every 2 - 3 years (Pep Gardiola, sometimes Mourinho) and Sir Alex Ferguson, who was a bit of a one off.

Looks like Spurs won't be fighting for the league come the last game of the season anyway...

Great result for us tonight with Spurs drawing. Their game against us is now virtually meaningless which should make life JUST a little bit easier for us. Still need to win at least 2 matches to be in with a shout of survival.

Have you taken into account that over the last ten games Sunderland have taken twice the number of points that Newcastle have ?

The big attraction with football is that these stats mean absolutely nothing

What has he done Albert ? apart from tell his players to go out and stop the opposition from playing football, a risky ploy if he puts Mitro on for 90 mins, check the record number of fouls in your games with Newcastle's tally double the opposition

Have you taken into account that you have won 1 game in your last 8? and the 13 games before that you only managed 3 wins, I cant see you getting another win all season really, couple of draws maybe

You've only won 1 in the last 8. We've won the same amount of games as you this season daft lad. We've won more than you have so far this year. We've only lost 2 games in the last 10 to your and Norwich's 6. Logic ain't your strong point. It's all over the shop. Just take it game by game and stop making daft predictions with fetched logic. It's not your strong point and it will reflect better on yourself if just stopped sharing your thought process. :emoticon-0136-giggl

We are the form team of the three, we're harder to beat, picking up more points in the second half of the season. We've got a natural goalscorer and a solid defence. But it all means nowt in regards to the final games. Game by game is the only sensible way to approach it. Especially for you. ;)

To be fair, we all know this. Nothing said more about the nature of football than Spurs failing to beat West Brom. Nobody would be hugely surprised at a Palace win. Football tends to work in weird, fate-filled ways. My only source of optimism is that you could have beaten Arsenal and we should have been beaten by Liverpool - nothing more than a hunch and a glance at fate that those strangely-acquired points may prove interesting.

But it's my last line that carries the sentiment. I'm saying looking at form is daft, even with it stacking in Sunderland's favor. It's a relegation battle. Anything can happen

Exactly. One game at a time. We could both fail to win this weekend and Norwich could get a win and we've got the easier games on paper. Tighten that arsehole and pray like **** as god know what will happen.

There was another thread about "going down could be good for us". I don't subscribe to that - I don't think it really matters either way, staying up would be as good for us. Football, ultimately, is about 90 minutes. Nobody advertises this more than Sky. I remember watching the very end of two seasons ago "Balotelli.....AguerooooooOOOOOOO" and no matter how incredible that drama, it took Jamie Redknapp less than 20 minutes from that ball hitting the back of the net to talk about their chances of retaining the title the following season. I mean, who gives a fook?! Surely the point is you get 8 weeks of bliss, then kick off again and it's all forgotten, not 20 minutes before you start planning your next season trips?! You can see from other clubs - Arsenal fans wanting the manager gone because they're "only" playing for 3rd in the league, Man U fans protesting because they're not winning everything, every time, Chelsea fans not knowing what to do with themselves. Mark my words, when Leicester fight relegation next season, watch them turn.

I'll enjoy it (or hate it at times) regardless of division or manager or owner.
