On the way home from the lane. Thought we were excellent in the first half poor in the second and unlucky overall. Been a great season but just hope we don't tail off and let those below us to catch up as that would be a waste of the work over the past 35 games. The difference between us and Leicester is experience and that has carried them through difficult matches like we had tonight. I'm personally glad that as we can't win they will. I'm really proud of what the team has done this season and just hope that we don't let the end of our challenge ruin what has been a great adventure for the club and fans. COYS
Leicester have still got United, Everton and Chelsea. Tough games for anyone. Only a small chance but I could see them losing 2 and drawing 1. To state the obvious you absolutely must beat those hideous Chelsea rent boys.
Even if you beat them and we beat Chelsea to briefly narrow the gap to 4 points, I cannot see them losing at home to Everton, especially with Vardy back. Everton have a decent away record but have largely been dire this season. Without the FAC to hide behind, the crowd and players will really turn on Martinez and Leicester should win comfortably. Obviously, I'd love it to go to the last day but that ain't happening anymore.
Its unlikely, yes. But you never know. I actually support Liverpool btw. The sense of helplessness we experienced ourselves only the other year. Although we were leading which made it even worse!
Guilty Went to dortmund match, palace in the cup, got a mate a ticket to Newcastle for his birthday and the Leicester match...its all my fault
Well, that's it for me. I can't see a way back from that. To run this race to the line we needed to win our last 6 games. I thought we'd do it but tonight was a poor performance. We have to learn from it and come back stronger. It was a repeat of the Stoke and Newcastle games. We had the game in the first half and failed to put it away. The second half was a long lead into the equaliser. WBA were the better team in the second half (how gutting is that?) and we can have no complaints. As far as Alli is concerned, he can have no complaint if he picks up a ban. He's got to learn that he can't do that. If Vertonghen used the language that Vardy used then he wants banning as well. No complaints if it happens. No matter how much I want Spurs to win, the rules have to be applied and applied equally to all. Maybe Roy will excuse Alli and encourage more England players to lose their rags and get sent off this summer? He's such a poor manager and England will be well rid of him when he goes. Congratulations to Leicester, their players and their supporters, even those who have been unable to be particularly gracious on this forum. You have won by being the strongest team and when it counted we were unable to match your ability to close out matches in the final furlong. Along with that, our poor start to the season and loss to you at WHL has done for us. We can have no complaint. Of course, I hope we bury you next season! Also, I think it's enormously important that we stuff Chelsea and win our remaining 2 games. To fail to do so now will damage a lot of the good work we have done this season.
Absolutely gutted. We played well though. It's been the story of our season not winning enough of the tight games. Ah well, very proud of the lads. Hopefully we can get 2nd wapped up soon and give a few more youngsters a go. Would love to see Onomah and Winks start at Newcastle.
It's symptomatic of what happens when Poch's favoured 4-2-3-1 system doesn't work, isn't it? Tonight highlighted how, contrary to what many posters on here believe, perhaps a plan B completely distinct to our admittedly strong plan A could be useful. Once WBA equalised, it was inevitable that they would pack the central areas and force us into the congestion at every opportunity, and with Kane and Alli having bad days at the office, it was by the same token inevitable that we were never going to score. There's the rub I suppose. We had 20+ minutes to find a winner and never even looked like scoring. 2 shots on target all game and our goal comes from a bizarre OG? That's the sort of behaviour we've been lecturing our Leicester guests about all season! West Brom came out the traps quicker and hungrier than us second half. They asked us all sorts of questions that we didn't have the answers to. By the time they equalised it was crystal clear that our plan A wasn't clicking, yet looking over at the bench all I saw were carbon copies of what was already on the pitch, just made of inferior carbon. It would have been lovely to bring on a natural winger for Alli, throw on a second striker, and play them at their own game instead of tiptoeing daintily around their box without ever really threatening Myhill. The fact that we drew is excusable; this is a tough league, they have a great away record, sh*t happens. But the fact that we never looked like scoring again is inexcusable, especially considering the home advantage and the amount on the line.
Agreed. Pulis read our play and completely nullified it in the second half. We ran out of ideas and didn't have the experience or confidence to close out a 1-0 win; nor did we have the ability or options to get a second and go onwards. We could all see they were going to equalise, we just didn't seem to be able to do anything about it. We have one pace, flat out, and need to be able to vary it from time to time. Today we lacked a leader to bring a calm head before we conceded. I hope we are bold this summer and bring in players who can move us on again. I understand the 'mood in the camp' and the 'right mentality' and 'not wanting to spoil the group dynamic' but we recruited Son, N'Jie, Wimmer, Trippier, Alderweireld and Alli into the group this season and they all seem to have done fine.
Totally agree with this, CK. Don't feel that any of our attacking subs will do anything to change a game. Our aim for many years has been to qualify for the CL, but now we've all but done it, we have to push ourselves to the next level to keep up.- A squad that can rotate twice a week and produce the goods against quality opposition week in, week out.
Im not being bitter or making excuses here, but i said before our game against stoke, that these 3 Monday games were utterly ridiculous and completely unfair. How can one team get to play at the weekend during the day, yet the other team who were trying to win the league have to play late kick offs at 8pm, 3 weeks in a row, knowing all the other results from the weekend? Sky literally turned us into a 3 part drama saga. "The Chase", starring Tottenham Hotspur.
Some would say Spurs playing after all the results were in gave them an advantage as they would know what was required. Last night you needed to win and yet you stumbled and failed to score - is that the first time this season.
Maybe it was just a bit too much to ask but second is the best for years so I'm not complaining. For Spurs to win all three and Leicester to lose two and draw one is too strong a leap of faith now besides the boys will probably be depressed.
We scored, and should have scored many more. But,uncharacteristic misses, woodwork, etc, meant we didn't. Put simply, WBA should have been dead and buried before an hour. That they weren't, we only have ourselves to blame for.
