It absolutely wasn't riveting or exciting. It was a footballing travesty. Many managers (including Pochettino) are of the opinion that it most certainly isn't the way to defend as one slip up during 90 minutes of intense pressure and that's that. I would like to think that our own defensive record this season shows that 'how to defend' can be accomplished by pressing high up the pitch, utilising a sweeper keeper, passing out from the back, turning full backs into semi-wingers, and dominating possession. Players like Lamela and Alli with their tenacity and perseverance have turned our attack into the first line of defense and it seems to be a method that works even better than packing the 18 yard box with two banks of 4.
I find it funny that you love that about your side but can't appreciate that our side literally does the exact same thing.
I think that most Spurs fans can appreciate the hard work that your forwards put in, especially when you compare it to the other game yesterday. Mahrez gets voted Player of the Year and he's battling back and winning tackles in his own half. Giroud scores in one game out of the last twenty and strolls around all day, then Walcott comes on and bottles every 50/50. I wouldn't say that both of our sides do things in the exact same way, though. We play different styles of football, just both of them involve a lot of grafting and teamwork. That's why we're at the top and some of the other sides with very talented players aren't.
So to sum up, you would rather be an also ran or runner up than a winner or champion ? Everton were and still are playing attractive attacking football also playing in Europe in the past. So why are Evertonians calling for Martinez's head this season when he's been a hero since his arrival up until this mid season and I take it if you do an Everton next season, you'd be happy with that because you're playing attractive football and MP would still be as reverred as he is now ? In conclusion , I think Poch and Martinez are similar managers and I don't think your average bloke on the street remembers a runner up as he would a champion. Proof of this is my team ! We have been in four FA Cup finals but never won the thing no one would remember that we've also been old first division runners up, no one remembers that too, well not til recently mentioned by Sky !
If the final difference is 6 pts or less then the match at the Lane will have proved to be the difference, one match that could have gone either way, I still maintain that we were the better side that night, and you got lucky. Those maybe the fine margins on which this title is decided, and if you win it (which I think most of us now think you will) then you will be champions and we will left looking at what might have been, it will still have been a great season, and I for one will salute your incredible achievement.
No, it won't. It will be that over 38 games one has won more points than the other. It's that simple. Arsenal did the double over us and yet they are miles behind us.
We've scored 63 goals 1 less than you and conceded 8 more but that was when we were shipping goals playing fast attractive football ! You are both delusional and in total denial ! PNP might be a good source of advice for you
"The game is about glory. It’s about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom." "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Please feel free to post quotes from any of Leicesters' greatest sons (and their names) , that you believe epitomise the core ethos of your club over the decades.
Scored 63 in 35 seven short of an average 2 goals per game YAWN ! Are you related to thank for mong Brian
1. Having played one game more. 2. Excuses excuses. Who was the other person you saw in the mirror when you typed this ??
It wont surprise you - but I disagree, (not with more points over that 38 games bit), but it is a fact that if we had won the match at the Lane (which we should have done) and every other result had been the same then we would be 2 pts behind with tonights match to play - this is my last statement on the matter because I do think that you just like to take contrary opinion to us and on this occasion I am right
