I'm fed up with the EU debate already, Its not all about money and whatever the result despite what some people would have you believe the world isn't going to end whatever the result. I'm going to vote, I've already made my decision and no amount of fear mongering is going to change that.

Yep I'm voting to leave, however I believe that the British Electorate are easily brainwashed with propaganda and we will unfortunately remain in the EU :emoticon-0120-doh:

P.S.I don't care if we will all be worse off, it'll be worth it IMO to lose the shackles of the EU. This is something that Mr Cameron appears to fail to grasp.

... he said, whilst using propaganda-esque terminology like "lose the shackles of the EU".

Don't forget JK a vote to leave will almost certainly bring down the Tory Government :emoticon-0105-wink:

Ironically if Corbyn was elected I think I might be tempted to use my freedom of movement.

I'd rather live in America with trump as president than a country run by him.

Come now, Corbyn is an odd one, but Trump is something else entirely.

Ha. The demise of this Tory government doesn't need any help from Brexit.
With the leadership candidates being Osborne, Johnson and May, I think even Corbyn would have a decent chance of victory!

    Nice try ;)

To be fair, I'm still not 100% decided either way.
I'm probably about 70-30 in favour of 'Remain' at the moment.

Got the London Mayoral Election to think about first (5th May).

Well you say you have not made your mind up yet. Your answer proves one point, you are not totally committed to the EU. You still reserve our right to make up our own minds on our country's destiny.

That's a very depressing race. I'm generally a Tory voter (shocking right) but I don't really like Goldsmith. That said I really can't stand Kahn so no doubt will end up voting for him anyway.

Did you really Alan sugars piece about Kahn in the Sunday Times? Really tore into him.

You're right in that I'm not 100% committed to the EU. One of the main issues I have with it is the single monetary union. I haven't ever been certain that the Euro was suitable for all members of the EU.

However, to speak generally, I do like the UK having close ties to Europe. I like an awful lot of the more 'social' legislation the EU implements (often covering areas that our Parliament, to be frank, wouldn't give a **** about).

I'm not sure what you mean by this, bor.

I'm not a fan of either of the two front-runners to be honest.
    I'm such a fence-sitter at the moment!

My main issue with the EU remains the unaccountability of it. How can an organisation of it's size, budget and responsibilities be run without ever signing off it's accounts? Where does it all go? Who's back pocket are we padding? The question for me is really how do you go about changing an organisation that has no interest in listening to individual nations, let alone the peoples of those nations? By staying in, we all but guarantee that next time Dave goes cap in hand looking for concessions that he will be given short shrift. We lose any sort of power. If the EU receives a mandate from us the British people to continue as is, then where will it all stop? How long before we meekly surrender the pound? How long before it's not polish food shops on every corner but they are facing competition from Turkish ones?
I'll vote out because it is the only way for europe to actually reform the project. We have no power within. Greece will likely default on there lalest bail out around the time of the referendum, more austerity will likely push them to breaking point. there are already many protests and civil unrest. If we leave the whole thing could come crashing down, anti-EU feeling grows around much of europe, we can be the spark for change.

Is the death of the EU a good thing? Some yes, and some no. The EU could be fundimentally good for all of us, trade, peace and oportunity, but it for me it is being lead by self serving crooks and we need to send a clear message that it cannot continue in the current vein. In a way, my wanting out is slightly perverse as I think that Germany is much better lead than us, with our old etonian boys club. But even they seem out of touch with their electorate who are increasingly unhappy with bailing out the greeks amoungst others and Frau Merkels opening of the refugee/economic migrant floodgates.
The EU could have worked with comparible economic nations uniting, but crowbarring nations such as Greece who plainly didn't meet the requisit economic requirements of entry just further highlights that there are backhanders and vested interests that damage the viability of the union.
Do I want unchecked immigration? No
Do I think that our economy will be better in or out? complete unknown, initially dependant on the remaining EU's stance no, long term I believe we can strive with the right leadership...................................Oh we're probably buggered then!
Would I chance some economic pain for me and the nation for freedom from the EU's leadership and direction, you bet your bippy!
    The thing in some of the earlier posts about younguns having to live with these decisions is a fair point, they however do not have any great experience to call on, I sit somewhere in the middle being as I would hope to see another 40 odd years having seen my 1st 40 odd years. And I don't think the country is getting better, not in my lifetime and my life time has seen the EU project grow into something I wouldn't have signed up for. The youth are not exactly getting the best of things. Whilst the following cannot be attributed to involvement in the EU, it has happened under it's watch so must be at least partially culpable;
University fees, unaffordable homes, poorer pay ammoungst trades, more globalised tax rape, poorer pensions, less apprenticeships, jobs and training going to immigrants, no council houses, more no go areas in their cities.
What I'm trying to say is why would a youngun think that being in the EU is good for them when our living standards are in decline? (This is very much open to debate, if you think having lots of gadgets, 1 million TV stations, limitless easily accessable porn, no friends and few prospects is better than, 4 TV channels, oportunities, porn in magazines and friends is less good then you don't know what you missed! [kinda like the porn access though!])

    Bah!

General bor, in the past we have had our differences, but on this subject I wholehearted concur with what you have said. Like me you have nothing to gain by our leaving the EU but we both knew this country before the EU and know which we prefer.

JKC bor, lost internet contact, was not ignoring you.
I'm not sure what you mean by this, bor.
Just that you reserve the right for our country to maintain our sovereignty to decide on some issues even if the EU would prefer us to commit to their interests.
