One of the interesting things which will come out of this season will be to see the reasons/excuses for players leaving clubs. In the past the 'for champion's league football' or for 'European football' has obviously disguised the 'I want more money' reality. With some of the so called big clubs no longer fitting the bill for such excuses, I wonder how agents and players will attempt to cover up their greed? 'I've always wanted to play for [insert manager's name here]'. '[Insert ground name here] has a wonderful atmosphere and I love playing there.' 'I found out I am allergic to wearing blue.' (To be fair the last one is a reasonable excuse!)

Indeed. I wonder whether Wilfred Bony really does not have a single regret at leaving Swansea? Bad example perhaps, but he's in a long list of players who thought the grass was greener, in terms of their pocket, but forgot why he came into football in the first place. To play.

The young goalie Peter Shilton scored for Leicester against Saints on a wet and windy night at The Dell, in the 1960's. But we forgave him as he became one of the greatest Saints ever.

Whilst I wouldn't quite put Spurs into the glamour club pack, they are near enough to the Premier League establishment that my preference between them and Leicester winning the league is an absolute no-contest. Spurs have that seedy reputation that makes me feel slightly ill. Leicester have my best wishes because they are remarkably like Saints, if a bit smaller in stature [not anymore] and value. Above all, Leicester winning gives hope to all the middle teams. Their winning immediately stamps out the lazy oft tripped out line, your club will never win anything. It is also a sign of the times. The middle teams DO have enough money now to properly challenge. Let the likes of ManU and the rest of the glamour clubs make themselves considerably poorer and entice a few mercenaries away from the middle clubs, just to end up not playing them. No loss to the likes of us.

Tbh, he's deserved that. He's not been the ultra-consistent performer, but when he has been on-song, and that's happened on many occasions, he's been almost unplayable, and has made several fellow professional opposition players look like plodders with his skill. He makes the beautiful game even more so.

You are obviously deliberately failing to mention that the same deal which brought Frank Saul to Southampton saw Martin Chivers going the other way. While I agree that Saul was a good player, and that Chivers' leaving meant Micky Channon stepping up, just imagine what a rotating strike force of Ron Davies, Channon and Chivers might have meant to our league positions in the late '60s! Anyway, my point is that Tottenham taking Chivers was the beginning of my personal dislike of the club, a dislike which has lasted right up until the present day.

I negated to say that, but the money received for Martin Chivers not only gave us Frank Saul but also enabled Ted Bates to strengthen other areas of the team. Correcct me if I am wrong, but did it enable the club to get the likes of Hugh Fisher, John McGrath, Jimmy Gabriel, Joe Kirkup even. All I recall it was Frank Saul plus cash to allow these improvements to be made.

PS: Didn't Chivers ask for a transfer at the time so rather than keep an unhappy player, Ted Bates made an assessment and the rest followed.

PPS: Glasgow Celtic fans must really detest Saints for pinching their best players.

With you on that. Hopefully Spurs will still be in with a shout for the title, before kick off, but not after the game has finished.
Really want Poch to have to listen to the "Who the **** is Pochettino" song, as we put an end to his title hopes.

<Wow - he's one of the most humble footballers I've ever seen or heard ... if your 'big head' theory is based on his outrageous skills, he is merely doing what he learnt to do in the back streets of Sarcelles ...

He struggles a bit with the language but he certainly is not cocky in the slightest ...

Do you know him personally? Have you talked to him more then 5mins? If so then fair play. I know a guy that interviewed him and he said how bad he was. It could have just been a bad day but then he would know more then the average fan.

Shame, his lumbering presence has been nothing to be scared of this season.

Garth Crooks has Tadic in his team of the week. In his section on Tadic - he has one and a half lines about his goals. + four paragraphs on Aston Villa. In his team of the week justifications for picking Tadic.

I must admit I have never been more interested in who is going to win the Premiership than this year. I'm almost excited!
