So when you are being abused, and your life threatened, retreat into yer shell lest the bad men abuse you more? **** me! what exactly did he do wrong the other night when he got pelted at a concert? was he adopting that famous aggressive attitude to sittin listening to music? I am neither Catholic or Irish, in any way, but I know when a man is being unfairly treated. Could you give me one example of anyone being treated similarly??
It's common sense that you don't inflame an already volatile situation, particularly when it's your family who are also being threatened. No one said become a shrinking violet, did they? No one said, "Neil, board up your windows and have no contact with the outside world", did they? But I'm sure the police said, "Neil, try not to stick the fingers up at 5000 people tomorrow - this is an awful time, we'll find and charge the people who sent bombs and bullets, but in the meantime try not to inflame the situation any more". Because he's an Irish Catholic doesn't mean he can do as he pleases during a time of death threats and danger, in the same way no one should be threatening him because he's an Irish Catholic. It works both ways, and neither is an excuse. What happened at the concert was committed by nasty, delinquent spastics. He did nothing wrong. Of course he's being unfairly treated, I haven't disputed that. All I'm disputing is that you seem to think every instance is because he's an Irish Catholic, and it isn't. It's because he's Neil Lennon, a polarising figure, in a heated footbal environment of the Old Firm, which is unlike anything else on the planet. if it was because he's an Irish Catholic then why isn't the persecution of all Irish Catholics such a prominent issue in today's Scottish society? Honestly, this is ****ing boring. Feel free to carry the chip on your shoulder, along with plenty of other fans of Celtic and Rangers
Seems we both agree Neil Lennon was/is treated unfairly, for whatever reasons. I pointed out the catholic Irish thing so you understood that iI'm not interested in using that angle for my point, I don't want/need to. The way the man is treated in this country if ****ing shameful, regardless of the attitude he adopts in the face of it. You beat me to it, I don't do pathetic 3 day arguments, have a good one
WTF? Are you seriously putting that up as evidence of the Scottish media saying Lennon brings it on himself? An English editorial. An inaccurate editorial at that.
My last post on this pish. What do you imagine this guy's motivation is for telling it like it is? he doesn't seem to have any connection to the club, but seems able to see how grotesque his treatment was/is. http://footballblog.co.uk/celtics-neil-lennon-truth-hate.html
Again this is not an example of the Scottish media saying Lennon being sent letter bombs was his own fault or he brought it on himself. It's a blog suggesting that Scotland has a problem with sectarianism which has led to Lennon being abused. Nae **** Sherlock. Jiffy has already pointed out that Lennon didn't help the situation with some of behaviour but that is not any excuse for the level of abuse he received. Bullets and bombs through the post was ****ing shocking. No one with a wit of sense would say he brought that on himself and certainly no media outlet ever did anything but completely condemn it when it happened.
At the trial for the cretin who attacked Neil at Tynecastle, the head juror stood up to announce that the jury had found the charge not proven then added "The ginger **** brings it on himself, m'laud "
The guy wasn't found not proven of assault. He was found not proven of assault of a sectarian nature or whatever they called it. They ****ed up by nailing the sectarian bit onto the charge and the jury wasn't convinced it was a sectarian crime. Probably because Lennon is such a naturally unlikeable chap.
Was just a wee joke Al, to lighten the mood. Feel free to take the rest of the day off...the sun is shining
