So Roof, you still want to keep Guidolin. Despite the fact that you acknowledge he'll give us a relegation battle. It beggars belief. And I'm sorry it bothers you that I get to watch my team.
If Williams goes , (imo he should) then he's one of many who's times up , Taylor, Rangel ,Williams, Routledge,Leon,Gomis .Ayew,Federico .all have shown for whatever reason they should move on and we replace with younger players ,Kingsley ,Gorre,Fulton.Roberts are playing well and with MacBurnie still to come back the U21's are in a position to gain promotion to the PL Division 1 reserve division .They mayo't be the answer but putting some pressure on some of the older heads who play regardless wouldn't be a bad thing .
There's an old adage in sport - "You're only as good on the pitch as you are off it". There's a few people behind the scenes who should be on their way out of the Club as well as the likely departure of Mr G and at least half of our first X1. There's one big issue - it's going to cost us a fortune to sort it out.
You're right PGF. I think that things going awry off the field have also had a knock-0n effect. IF we stay up (as looks probable) next season is going to be pivotal.
There's a general malaise setting in and the problems are all behind the scenes. It's obvious some of the Board members want to jump ship so it's a case getting rid of them asap so we can put things in place for next season. Caught up in this mess is Guidolin, who doesn't know whether he is coming or going and this also applies to the players. It could be a rough few weeks for the Club so it's up to the Board to earn their crust before they **** off. As it stands, they are probably losing a few million each week as the Clubs value decreases as we look more like a sinking ship rather than a Premier League cruiser.
Huw Jenkins has been 'Mr Consistent' over the years, but this last 12 months he has been distracted by too many tossers in the boardroom, especially Martin Morgan, at least his influence has been diluted well and truly with the takeover, but Huw has got to take the bull by the horn this summer and clear out the dross, we need to blood youngsters quicker, football is a young man's game, and our team today looked like a bunch of OAP's. I do not think Rodgers coming back is the best option, we need to aspire to a higher plain, and bring in a manager that has a philosophy that is in line with the club, one who has managed with greater success than Rodgers, and after all the negatives of this season, at least we can be grateful for Curt and Franco salvaging the mess that Monk left us in, it isn't all doom and gloom, we are still in the Prem, but first we must get the manager right, a man that can kick players inflated ego's into touch, a man that can also work with Jenkins, and who has the right pedigree, that must surely be the first port of call, and hopefully with the right manager the squad can be assessed, though I'm sure Huw has already started on the clear out dross list...........
Good post Phil....I agree with you regards the backroom issues. It seems clear that Martin Morgan has been a main culprit in all of this unrest. I sincerely hope that once he gets his money he is cut off from the club. I'm sure we all appreciate what part he played is keeping us going, but it really is just about money for him and I don't want him around.
Good morning all. I'm still Fukn fuming this morning at that shower of sh_i_te yesterday. THRASED,TROUNCED.......pin the headlines up on the dressing room wall. And all this garbage of"We let the fans down"...."We will be better next week" Two words........FUK OFF......you are paid obscene money to do it every week. Get your hands in your pockets and give those traveling fans their money back.Mind you if I had travelled and they offered me my money back I'd tell them to stick it up their Fukn arseholes.Maybe then they'd get the message. Rant over.
Hello 55282 - harsh words but I agree wholeheartedly. Nothing had changed since Newcastle, another gutless performance, same as last week. Away end full of Leicester fans, you could tell they sat quietly throughout, loads around us, some brazenly wearing Leicester colours. Couldn't hear our fans, they were drowned out by the huge drum placed next to the away fans banging throughout, and every Leicester fan shaking those daft rattles. Our defending was abysmal, and the captain who should be leading by example was away with the fairies,as was his partner Fernandes, both full backs and the goalkeeper. At the end some of our players came over to clap the away fans, there were a few boos, I just stood there fuming. What next? Looks like FG can't motivate this lot, is weak, and seems to be tactically inept. I would like to see a strong manager coming in, one who can motivate the players left, after what needs to be a huge clear out. Not one player came away with any credit yesterday so where do we start, we can't get rid of them all, or can we?
Some good posts here. I'm not convinced we need a huge clearout. Some new faces? Definitely. Mainly at the back. Blood the youngsters? Yes! Particularly Gorre and a few others. But we must, first and foremost, get a manager in who knows what the **** he's doing. Guidolin has shown time and again that for every time he gets it right there are two or three games when he gets it horribly wrong. Throw in a combo of having players who couldn't give a **** and we had the dross we saw yesterday. Looking at the way Toon and Sunderland are playing compared to our lot and it's like night and day. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have anyone who can effectively kick them up the backside. We still are not mathematically safe and I do worry where the next point is coming from.
While we are still going for a step up for the under 21 team who are in the play-offs, I don't think they will feature much for us this season. I hope some of them are taken on the preseason tour and feature in the preseason friendlies. Even with the new owners I don't think we will have enough finance in the transfer market to change half the first team but hope a few of the youngsters can step up. I'm not going to mention the players who need replacing as they have all been mentioned in various posts. We need fullbacks on both sides, a centre back with physique and heading abilitiy, a pacy, physical boss in midfield and a physical striker who can win the ball in the air, whether in the transfer market or from within. However the most important signing is a coach who can organise the defence, who can make the attack more potent and above all can motivate the players.
I see that Dortmund are after Siggy!! I for one wouldn't blaming for leaving if the right offer came in.
I do not want him around either, but unfortunately, I don't think he is selling all his shares, but at least his influence will now be diminished, I believe he poisoned the dressing room early season, and Monk's gutless act of siding with the boardroom added fuel to the fire, it just goes to show how one act of deceit, can cause so much damage, but I am optimistic that we can use this new chapter of the takeover to kick on, fresh ideas with a bigger picture in view, might just be what we need now............
The sooner this nightmare season is over the better and we get rid of all the old players we don't need and replace them with younger hungry players like they once were. We need a confirmed replacement for Guildo now so he can start planning and pin pointing players we need so he can officially become the boss the minute the whistle is blown to end the last match. With the amount of changes that has to be done we need him to start recruiting from day one. They should cancel the end of season dinner /awards (that's a laugh) for the fist team and just have it for the U21's and below and the first team can all assemble at Rossie's for fish and chips and to say their good bye's to the team mates who will be leaving.and there should be a lot....Guildo can book himself an Italian near an airport somewhere at the clubs expense and fly off into the distance never to be seen again.......
If this is his last season, he should be given a job as one of the main coaches in the academy along with Rangel, who sadly gives it his all, but we all know his legs went last season.
He was ticked right off coming off the pitch yesterday. Too keep him, we will have to seriously invest in quality. For me, a priority signing should be Bony, Joe, along with two class CB if Amat isn't making the cut and a RB,
This may sound like I've bitten off the head of a child but in all honesty Rangel yes but Ash not sure , he is the captain but is he really a good example of one , his head drops far too easily, he doesn't lead by example and is prone to huge lapses of concentarttion ,yes he's come right through the lower leagues but a good player doesn't always equate to being good coach and I'm not sure whether he could make that transition .
I highlighted Leon not Ash Agree about Ash though, he's not captain material for me when the **** hits the fan. As you say, he drops his head etc far too often. If he stays next season, I'd make Gylfi captain. He's our leader on the pitch.
