You're not sure you can blame the guy who has spent twelve years building this team by signing these players to put out onto the pitch, when the players who are out on the pitch are poor?
Who picks these players? Who keeps giving them chance after chance when they fail to deliver? More importantly, why has Walcott regressed over the last decade despite showing so much promise early on? Is it Wenger's lack of motivation or was Walcott given superstar status too early on in his career? Either way, the insistence to be proven right overrides any rational judgements he may have about the team and it hinders us. Walcott is 27 and he still plays like he's a kid. Why does Wenger keep giving him chances when he doesn't deliver? This is what I mean when I say Wenger is too emotionally invested in certain players.
What ppl don't realise is underneath that Arsenal top, Claude is wearing all the contents of his wardrobe.
If a player is a bottler it's everything to do with the player imo. Like said to the other fella, I was under the impression it was about today's match. But Wenger didn't bottle the challenge, Walcott did, nobody to blame but the player imo. For what it's worth though, If you want me to comment on your bigger picture I'm staggared you haven't sacked him yet. Players like Ozil and Sanchez are too good to be underachieving and will leave eventually unless you start mounting serious challenges for Trophys.
Disagree with that a bit. It's about the ethos and mentality the manager instills in the players. Will they run through brick walls for him? Or, on the other hand be afraid that if they don't give 100% they know when they leave the field he will rip them to shreds over it? It's also the mentality that's instilled on the training pitch and a collective feeling throughout the team.
This is evident with Leicester this season. You can see they love Ranieri and they give him 100% all the time. But that is one part of it, strategy also comes into play and Wenger is limited in this aspect too.
I actually think one impacts on the other. Van Gaal is the same. Our players lack confidence and self-belief bcos they don't believe the bollox he spouts and they know his strategies don't work. In Wenger's case it may be that they don't respect him enough.
