Has the night staff arrived yet?

I have just put in an eleven and a half hour shift and need a very hot soak. There is only so much pain that a bottle of Bordeaux will keep under control. ;)

    I love trying to understand the rules of cricket, they are quirky and complex. Its a brain teaser for me lol. I particularly like the many ways of 'getting out';

    1)Bowled- Obvious
    2)Caught- Obvious
    3)LBW- Explained already
4)Stumped- when the keeper collects the ball and knocks off the bails before the batter gets their bat or any part of their body grounded behind the batting crease
5)Double hit- a batter can be given out "hit the ball twice" if the second strike is deliberate.
6)Obstructing the Field- The batsman can be out if he prevents a catch or run out being made
7)Timed out- The next man in does not make it to the crease with in 3mins in test/one day matches and 90sec in T20
8)Run-out-when the batsmen are going for a run or runs, but fall short of the batting crease when the stumps are broken by the fielding team.
9)Hit wicket- when the batsman falls on, treads on his own wicket.
10)Handling the ball- if the batsman prevents the ball hitting the stumps with his hand.

Obviously there are exceptions to all of those rules. But they get tedious and confusing.

2 points, when on holiday I try to look for football matches, so have visited a few clubs in Iceland in the last 2 summers. We even bumped into Eidur Gudjohnson in Akuyri (sorry for crap spelling) last summer.

The Bulgarian footy season starts this weekend, and I have someone looking for games to go to - they have 7 teams in Sofia in the top division, so we should be able to find a game!

Cricket - I didn't know about the "timing out" rule for batsmen. When was the last time anyone lost their wicket by that method???

As for shops opening up their Christmas decs - oh for heavens sake that is pathetic!

I watched my fellow Old Parmiterian get his five-for for the Panthers and the MoM award before driving to Nottingham.

N, in the ICC European Division 1 T20 tournament held in Jersey and Guernsey last week, Norway finished 5th beating France in the 5th/6th place play-off (sorry, Frenchie). Jersey fininshed 3rd. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/story/524631.html

Hey N, I do love cricket. Its a really mentally trying game and it is not simply about 1 man, everyone has to step up and play well.
