Brown Ale would surely sell more if that was what it was called, without the offensive bit at the beginning Why alienate a substantial number of people by giving it an offensive name (to some) . . . . from a business point of view it simply doesn't make sense
I'll bet that Lord Lambton of crusader years came back from Jerusalem with the tales of a christian Arab who slayed dragons and there we have two myths nicely joined together. If I was RAW I would have my lineage checked in case he is related.
Brown Ale is actually owned by Heineken (which I didn't know ) and is brewed at the John Smith brewery in Tadcaster. The yanks love it. It was the 9th best selling imported beer last year. Personally I find it gopping.
Have to admit I had a bottle some years ago in Dallas - just for the novelty of it being sold in USA. The bottle arrived at the table with a piece of lime inserted in the top ! I tried to explain that they should not ever consider doing that if they were in Newcastle - they just didn't get it
A few questions Billy. Where the **** is tanfield lea? Do they still have a men only bar? Do they still do turns. ie. Local bands, comedians? What about strippers? Is chucky out time still 11pm?
Tanfield Lea is where I live mate. A village near Stanley, there's no pubs in the village. Women have been allowed in the bar for about 30 years now. They do put local bands/artists on - some good, some ****. Don't know anywhere that has strippers on now. https://www.facebook.com/Tanfield-Lea-Working-Mens-Club-103788933016672/ There yer gan.
