Paul Benson

The Gills still need another striker before the start of the new season, due to a pre season injury to new signing Birchall.

Another name that has just been kicked off on the rumour mill is Paul Benson, who is reported to have had concerns about moving his family up north.

Bids in the region of 150k, thoughts from Gills and Addicks please, should we be collecting him on the red bus return journey, or leave well alone...

 

Gills are not gonna pay £150k for him, Scally is potless. Guess you might try and get him on loan, but before that can happen we will need to sign another two strikers. How is Scally ?

Heard news today that we have accepted a loan bid for the lad but doesn't want to leave so he has turned them down fair play to the lad I say

Not a difficult question to ask Charlton fans brb. He would be a good signing for you, but just dont think it will happen because a) Uncle Paul is skint therefore you have not got a spare £150k, and b) IF a loan deal were brokered doubt Scally would want to pay all Bensons wages. Just think its a non goer.

 

Think he's settled here, and he seems excited by the prospect of playing in the same team as Danny Green again. According to CP, Green set up more than half of his goals at Daggers.

 

Judging by the recent interviews regarding his move to notts, I cant see him going anywhere.

 

plus c) the scallywag has a habit of not paying us loan fees at end of the loan (and Wright even got you to the play-offs )

Read somewhere that McDonald did'nt want to return to the Gills. He enjoyed last season, but wants a permanent move now Norwich have made him surplus to requirements. Thye want £500k for him which is a lot of money for someone not proven above league 2

Strewth Rifleman, when I heard he was 'released', I assumed that was on a free - as good as he is, they're going to be struggling to get half a mill for him - as you say, he's got no form outside League 2.

 

The thing about Benson is that Div One is his right level and he is probably more valuable to us than to any other club. Firstly because we have do not have enough strikers and secondly because he may well be a more effective player if playing alongside Green. So if he is happy to fight for his place (at least until the New Year window) he could be a real asset.

 

he never said he didnt he said it wasnt gonna happen, prob cos of the price tag norwich put on him and like barcham he was hoping to play at a higher level. as for benson would be a good signing for gills imo but sounds like its not gonna happen
