Two wagers for moi at Sandown. Willie looks to have a strong hand in the first two races and can score 6/1 double with Voix Du Reve/Valseur Lido Novices have a good record in the Gold Cup which bodes well for Henri Parry Morgan who ran a cracker lto at Aintree coming second to Native River. That was over 3 miles one but I think the extra three furlongs could work in his favour today. 10/1 is a decent Ew price. Best of luck with Squire today Stick/Don
Best of luck with Squire today fellas. Unfortunately he's burdened with my cash today. I've had something on him when he's run before but there's always been something else in his races that I've fancied aswell. Today that's not the case and I'm expecting Squire to do the job and is a great price too
Sandown: 2.55 SAPHIR DU RHEU 12/1 I thought shaped better at Aintree over fences than he has for some time. No surprise that the stars of the show cleared away from him late on but this shorter trip will help him and perhaps the blinkers can have the desired effect. Worth chancing in a race that doesnt provide optimum trip or conditions to some of the runners. 3.45 VANITEUX 7/1 Running right upto form before unseating when trying to go with Douvan in the Arkle. Given some time to get over that rather than heading to Aintree and is an interesting addition to this race. Vroum Vroum Mag is in against some decent boys for the first time in the UK/IRE and Vaniteuxs 2L defeat to Rock On Ruby over a similar trip over a year ago would make him quite interesting at these prices. 4.10 SIR DES CHAMPS 25/1 Never got his ground in the National, has to bounce back from a fall but he has done so before and gets his ground today. This is not as hot as some of the races he contested in the winter. Cheekpieces applied to this lazy rogue and I'm very interested to see if the can get him to concentrate. 5.20 VIVA STEVE 8/1 3m stretches him and I am delighted to see him try a stiff 2 and a half here. If he jumps well like he has at places like Kempton this year where he really impressed me in a bold effort from the front, I think he could go really close here. 5.55 WILDE BLUE YONDER 20/1 Ran 5th to Vautour in the Supreme Novice 2014 (beaten 8L), before going down 2nd in an Aintree Grade1 a couple of weeks later, behind Lac Fontana. King can get one to go fresh, has got back amongst the winners after a dismal Cheltenham, and its interesting he brings this one back so late in the season in a hot enough race. Goes off 139 and that's a fair mark.
How did Voix Du Reve achieve his current rating? Looks crazy to me, we will see if he is up to it now...
Squire will not have won me any football money until nearly half-time in the first semi-final. The last time Everton and Man Utd contested an FA Cup semi-final was in 2009, when the Toffees won 4-2 on penalties after a bore draw. From a betting point of view, Man Utd to win in 90 minutes makes no appeal, nor does both teams to score; and I would rather go with Watford tomorrow at a fraction over 2/1. If Man Utd put Everton out – as I expect – will Roberto Martinez last until the end of season? It is a results business and I think only winning the FA Cup would save his job as they have got worse every year since he arrived. Unsurprisingly, he is top of the Premiership Sack Race betting. So what about 3/1 next Everton manager David Moyes? Would he rather be in the Premier League or go up to Celtic and fight to keep the Catholic half of Glasgow top of their 3rd Rate League? I cannot see Mourinho, Pellegrini or Benitez going to Goodison Park. The police are filming a movie here in Hull city centre and probably wishing that they had made the Hull City vs Leeds United game a 12:30 kick-off. There are three police vans and twenty police on foot outside the pub where I am, from which the door staff have already thrown out some p***ed Leeds fans for fighting amongst themselves. The police have been in the pub across the road as well so by 5 o’clock they are going to be really busy if the result of their second division football match goes to wrong way.
Got a nagging feeling that UDS might get his revenge over Sprinter Sacre today ................. can't say why, just a feeling. Not betting at the moment though. Should be a brilliant spectacle though
Somebody in the Newmarket marketing department clearly needs to be handed their P45. I have just received an e-mail from them regarding the QIPCO Guineas Festival (already have my tickets; and do not care that Sarah Cox is doing a DJ set after racing on Saturday), which features a link to an item about “Appleby thrilled with progress of QIPCO 2000 Guineas Hope Emotionless”. Would that be the same Emotionless that was reported as a non-runner in the ordinary and racing media on Thursday? Maybe Greg Wood had the wrong horse in the Garunaid.
Probably ran withing a few lbs of that 144 actually and I'd imagine improvement to come over a longer trip. Winner was tough.
Been thinking the same thing. Just think we might see an improved and more competitive performance from UDS. Hope we're both wrong though as i absolutely love SS and have backed him in a couple of accas today!
Cooper outridden again there I reckon - seemed to have plenty of horse under him but couldn't get him up. Pleased for Dicky and Menorah though
Agree Oddy. He let VL take the last on his own stride as he felt he had plenty of horse to reel him in once he got over, Johnson booted Menorah into it and got away perfectly and that won the race.
I'd say Willie is sick of the sight of Cooper at this stage Oddy.I always felt Russell was given a raw deal getting jocked off by Gtown.Bar a couple of good rides(DC in Gold Cup) Cooper has been as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike
Just brilliant. What a season for Sprinter Sacre and if it were me I'd be very much inclined to say thank you very much and leave on the most fantastic of notes. Superstar of a horse, and yet he's 10 years old. He's shown more than just talent this season, and that's what makes him the Champion he is. Massive credit to Nicky Henderson and Caroline Mould as well for the patience and tender handling.
