Some days ago I saw a film called Practical Magic with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. I did not like this film very much as I thought it was silly, Little Ak liked it though. I watched it as I like Sandra Bullock, but I think Nicole Kidman with her long orange hair and blue glasses was very pretty.

It is good Frú Ak is out and not watching me typing.

Come on ak you know better than that.

Icelandic cricket clubs include Kylfan (Icelandic for "the bat"), based in Reykjavík, and Ungmennafelagid Glaumur, based in Stykkishólmur. Major difficulties for the development of the sport in Iceland include the popularity of other sports in the country (especially football), and the lack of cricket fields in which to play. This second problem has led to some novel solutions, including one game which was played between the Iceland national cricket team and an amateur team from Britain that was played on top of Langjökull glacier.

Is a cricket thing? I am aware you think more of crickket than anything else, except tea. Even cricket has tea time.

    I found this.
If the ball hits the batsman (without first hitting his bat or a hand holding the bat) when it was otherwise going to hit the wicket, then he is to be judged out LBW, unless:

    • (1) the ball pitched (bounced) only on the leg side or
    • (2) the ball hit the batsman outside the off stump and the umpire adjudges that the batsman was genuinely attempting to play the ball.
Despite its complexities, leg before wicket is the third-most common form of dismissal in cricket: after caught and bowled.

They did have a problem finding Willow trees for the bats, but overcame that by using (volcanic) Ash instead <laugh>

So then what is leg side and off side?

From the point of view of a right-handed batsman facing the bowler, it is the left hand side of the cricket field (being to the bowler's right). With a left-handed batsman the on side is to the batsman's right (and to the bowler's left).

Is this the only sport where the field changes if the batman is right or left handed? And why if leg is also called on why does off not have another name? Is very odd.

Do you honestly mean to tell me I've just done the evening rounds and watering the allotment and garden and I come home to you guys debating cricket and the LBW rules!!! LOL.

There was some competitive football tonight you know - Fulham's draw and Stoke's win in the Europa cup!

OK back to cricket - there is a 3rd exception to be given NOT OUT when the ball hits the pads in front of the stumps : If the ball has hit the pads too high - above the knee roll!!! So just like the modern offside rule in footy, there are complications!!!

Leg side - the batsman's side which doesn't have his bat (RH batsmen = left), off side is the side of the bat! Does that answer the question?

I don't know, I've come on here for some heavyweight footy chat and I get cricket!!! And I'm the only one in as the rest of the clan are all at the out-laws!

I care not for cricket. I have Helena Bonham Carter chasing Imogen Stubbs in Twelfth Night. This is my favourite film.

Well if you are stumped to keep up with the football news Elixir while on holiday you could follow this up.

The Bulgarian Cricket Team is a fledgling team which represents the nation of Bulgaria in International Cricket competitions.

The game is well supported by ex-pats from the United Kingdom, and is becoming more popular with the locals. There are teams in the capital, Sofia, and also in the city of Varna on the Black Sea.

They were granted affiliate status in June 2008 by the ICC.

Bulgaria took part in a European Twenty20 tournament held by Carmel & District Cricket Club in July 2009.

Kylfa is club which you hit people with or cudgel not club you join, Kylfan has a suffix article, I suppose it could be bat but not a flying mouse, which is leðurblaka.
