I lived in Leeds and never heard the centre referred to as town. Had family from there and never heard them refer to the centre as town.
I do when I am in a town. Though some who live in towns may say they are going into the city centre. Others may say the financial institutions are in the Town Of London.
Chances are FC will be getting bigger crowds then us next season. Maybe city fans should all turn up to an fc game and fill the stadium to show the Allams what a full stadium looks like. Bastards
Either you didn't speak to many people or everyone you did speak to were the exception because its very common.
Unfortunately, this is where your argument collapses. I worked in Leeds for about 10 years and I know almost all areas North, South, East and West pretty well. My Mrs went to University in Leeds and we're regular visitors to the **** hole. I think I'm fairly well placed to say there isn't one area in Leeds I would choose to live. Even the slightly nicer areas in North Leeds are pretty abysmal. It is one of the most over hyped Cities in the UK.
Just seen a full replay of the match. Chester cut a really frustrated figure in that wide left side position and I think he may have been relieved to exit the match at the break. The commentators were also baffled with the current interpretation of handball declaring that they don't know what handball is anymore after the Alexis Sanchez incident. This is the 3rd set of commentators in the past couple of weeks that have put forward similar views on other handball incidents. I can understand their frustration. We are going to Sydney tomorrow for lunch with friends and have arranged to meet up in town.
Just a point but the discussion was about the city / town centre. You havent referred to it in this post, and you've instead talked about not wanting to live in the north, south, east and west. Can i ask why you visit regularly the '****hole'?
Good to see you thread his post properly, as he quite clearly stated he worked there and went to Uni in Leeds.
Yes I saw that thanks very much. Why does he go now? He didnt use the past tense. And he didn't say he went to Uni there as it happens. Glad you thread (sic) his post properly.
To be fair, you are correct, I didn't thread that bit properly. At least I can admit when I cock up, eh?
I try to avoid it to be honest. I used to have to visit for work, which was the entire LS post code area, for a period of about 10 years, so there's not one area of Leeds I haven't been to or that I am not familiar with. Probably more familiar with most areas of Leeds than Leeds residents. I like to give a balanced view. Airlie said I wasn't well placed to give an opinion on Leeds being a ****hole. I was qualifying that I am well placed for the reasons illustrated.
I wasnt being funny, you can think what you like about a place. Some people think London is a ****hole, whereas many others would say it's in the Big 3 with New York and Paris. All about preferences. I just thought it was interesting that you didn't mention the centre - which the discussion was about - and then you still said you regularly visit Leeds. If I thought a place was a ****hole I'd try and avoid it but that's me. You couldn't live in Yorkshire's most expensive street? (2011) http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/Bracken-Park.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...nsive-street-where-houses-cost-almost-5m.html
I just did a quick search for Yorkshire's most expensive street and this came up, it just happened to be in Leeds and my research was no more comprehensive than that. And anyway, that's not the point, it's not a competition trying to find the most expensive street, I was just replying to him saying he couldnt live anywhere in Leeds.
