This is what makes LFC a family. there's always a cuddle for these guys.

I remember abusing the hell out of owen when he was warming up for utd. Once a manc never a red.....

but then he turned up for gerrards testimonial as did terry and drogba and others and torres too.

What do we feel about alonso turning up at anfield or hyppia... they get loved to death... what do we think of luis garcia... loved.

They all left too but left playing the game to their uptmost.

Players like torres left us when we really needed him. if he'd said ok chavs see you in june i gotta ensure this lot don't end up 18th in the table he'd ahve been loved onto death i think. some of us realize Mascherano might have mouthed a bit but he did stay an extra year and try his best even though we ended 7th to end rafa's career. But the vast majority of us saw stering mug us off and act the tosser....

Owen and mcmanaman always gave a good account of themselves so its not the money they left for nor how they played but the dishonesty of how it was done.

torres left us for vast fee but did so badly when we really needed him for last part of that season.

Stelring mugged us off disrespected the shirt by nothin being at all bothered or playing.

If i was ranking the worst tossers ever.

    1. Diouf
    2. Sterling
    3. Owen

the rest don't even come close. Diouf is utter scum and never stops mouthing to this day. Sterling is a toerag of the worst type of modern spoilt brats and owen.. he knew full well what he was at when ferguson rang him up. that last betrayal after all that went before and to turn up as amabssador (and be on BT whining every time we do well) is too much.

    OG by club.

‘Sir Alex phoned me on Wednesday afternoon, invited me to have breakfast with him next morning during which he told me that he wanted to sign me,’ Owen revealed.
‘I agreed without a moment’s thought. This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to seize it with both hands. I am now looking forward to being a Manchester United player.

‘If you can’t beat them, join them,’ Owen said, smiling. ‘I won a lot of trophies with Liverpool but to win the Premier League is the pinnacle of anyone’s career. I’m very proud today.’

Maybe if he'd have been totally committed to LFC he could have helped the club and himself to one or more during his time at Anfield.<grr>

Footballers have a short career span and given his injury record, Owen would be a fool not to have got as much money as possible.

At the end of the day, you want what's best for your family and give them everything - you can't quantify that amount.

quite simply a view into the mind of a guy looking for the easy ride here.

He went to madrid for this and lasted one season (benched) as they saw right through him after their president signed him as a galactico on his youht reputation and golden ball that was awarded.

he won nothing there not at newkie and his oh i'll play for england but i aint bothered to play for newcastle stuff ended up with them relegated.
he then goes.. great league medal for my collection and never even thought for a second.. hmmm.. I'll be the biggest scab ever here.

So he got his bench warming medal. Thats like the guys who turn up for sunday league or u16s having not been seen for training cos the teams made a cup final...

I literally threw my eldest (7 at the time) out the front door. The mrs retrieved him in floods of tears #nastydaddy

It worked though. I told him the sane would happen if he chose Chelsea too :)

    <coughs> bull ****.

do you even know how much he was on at anfield or how much he could have been on in 2005 had he signed? his second contract at anfield was 100k per week and he'd have got as much as gerrard has he stayed

do you know how much he got at real or at newkie? At newcastle he got 130k per week ofr 5 years... for doing ****e all

Do you even know the deal he got of utd?? Pay as you play. Max 25k per week or so in 2009

If he'd gone elsewhere he could easily have got the same. he went to scab the medal

the guy ended up with a reputed 50million net worth afte rplaying of which his time at utd would be a TINY part.

any family member especially wives who get involved in this kind of thing should have their head shaven and paraded in streets as collaborators.

you should have told her no corrie for a year as a reuslt of her attitude. she obviously did not take your passion seriously.

The intervening time between Fergie's afternoon call and them having breakfast together the following day was obviously when Mikey got what he wanted and made his decision.:bandit:

Sorry but this is arrant nonsense. They earn in their short careers what it would take most people several lifetimes to earn.
Not to mention the fact that their celebrity gives them many more opportunities to make millions more after their career has ended.
I find it sad that so many people swallow this utterly false justification for greed.

If people want to earn more money and enjoy a better lifestyle, what's the issue?

the fact jimmy fails to or more accurately doesn't want to recognize the fact that 25k per week to owen was never ever going to make a blinds bit of difference to his lifestyle especially since he could have got it at any number of clubs speaks volumes..

Jimmy has no clue that this guy half owns an extremely successful stables with over 90 horses and frankly had a sweet deal off umbro what dwarfed the utd wages form his england days that ran right up to the end of his career

Once more with simplicity. he's a scab.. now it suits him he's on BT sports hawking round and virtually CRYING as LFc beat utd and our club sees fit to make him a club ambassador?

Yeah that's up to them but as a fan I'm not going to be happy about a player leaving my club because he wants to line his pockets, players should have more loyalty to the fans who pay their wages. Without fans the sport would not be in the position it is in and players would not earn the money that they do today.

    Well, where to begin? <laugh>
A better lifestyle hardly begins to describe what we're talking about here. 11 luxury cars rather than 10?

However, that's not the point - you've moved the goalposts. If a footballer says he likes being rich and is going to enjoy it then at least that's honest. Using the "supporting his family" argument ennobles something that is motivated by pure selfishness. It's not as though they're badly off without the few thou extra per week.
You can't equate the lives of millionaire footballers with ordinary working people looking for a better deal to improve their lifestyle.
The vast wealth of footballers is derived through the exploitation of the grass-roots supporters without whom they wouldn't have their job.

    By the same token.

If people like Mikey put money ahead of loyalty to their club and get stick, what's the issue?

Most top footballers are so full of their own importance they actually believe they're beyond criticism, he's our ambassador whether we like it or not now but there are plenty of former players still around and that have been around supporting the club since their playing days finished that are entitled to feel a bit miffed that Owen touched for a nice little earner ahead of them...and rightly so imho.

A good couple of years before leaving Liverpool, Owen bought a whole street for him and his family to live on. He wasn't short of pennies lol

He has to "act" like he supports LFC when doing commentary now.

He is despised by Liverpool fans. I'm sure foreigners who know about him despise him too.

He doesn't fit the bill he's a terrible choice. Who's next, Diouf? I can't think of any other Ex-liverpool player disliked more.

I agree to a point but he screwed us over 3 times.

Madrid I could partially understand even though he handled it poorly. If he turned down Newcastle and came to us would be have earned significantly less? Probably not.

When he went to United as a bit-part player he probably could have got more by going to the middle east, China, or the US but he wanted to win the league as a nobody player.

If he's that much of a fan he could have made almost as much and treated the club with dignity.

I dont hate Torres, Suarez, or Sterling. They all made dickhead decisions... I certainly think (especially in Sterling's case and Torres's to a degree) that they hurt their Anfield legacy but they Wern't unforgivable.

Owen dicked us over 3 times. He'll likely dick us oher again as ambassador.
