Macca wormed his way back in by attending matches to watch his mate and even playing for the Legends On Tour etc, Owen on the other hand stayed away and now ends up as a club ambassador.<laugh>

Michael Owen could have been more honest with his dealings when he left the club instead of insisting he was going to sign.

... But perhaps that could be forgiven. The club was naive.

He could have refused to go to Newcastle forcing Real to sell him to us.

... But he didn't. Perhaps he wanted to not upset Real Madrid out of loyalty.

He could have chosen to not go to Man United knowing how it would upset the fans of he loved the club.

... This was the absolute final straw. Probably forgivable without the other transgressions since it probably was the biggest club in England at the time who would still take him.

Three strikes. If he loved the club like he claimed he could have handled them differently. Three times he went against the club. Hes no fan of our club and doesn't deserve the ambassador role.

If he said "no" I'm not going to Newcastle it wouldn't have cost 17mill.

They couldn't force him to go there.

They wanted rid of him. We put in a 12mill bid if I recall correctly. They almost certainly would have accepted that if Newcastle hadn't made a (what was then) silly-money bid.

He had the choice to come back to us.

macca did setanta before bt took on prem so he was woeful on tv ... meh... nobody would begrudge anyone going to the galactios for a change... did we begrudge souncess or rush or keegan going... no.. only the hurt it caused in lost ffes

for example in 1992 the centenary stand cost supposedly 12mil and that was the fee in 1999 that we should have got.

Owen in 2004 prob cost us 25mil or something but i think in general you get the contract, then newkie move he could have turned down (but i don't think rafa wanted him really and was oh **** i prob have to take him) and then the greatest betrayal... utd. If he'd only moved to real i don't think he'd have got the ****

Mcmanaman got 2 la ligas and 2 CL out of his move.

Owen got tanked by capello who didn't want him. he won nothing there, nothing at newcastle and leeched a league out of utd. he did i think at least play in their league cup win.

So... yeah his moves really didn't pay off. for newkie he was no more in the door than got that knee injury playing for england.... ridiculous and never did anything be letch off them.

10 or 12... no more.. i think rafa was really arm twisted into bidding. everyone was obessed with getting him back as CL winners..

I think seeing we got torres it wasn't too bad after but.... well.... if he'd resigned ofr us we'd only end up with a crock.

Its a shame Rafa didn't sign him. I'm curious how he would have done playing as a full-back. <whistle>

the other thing about mcmanaman was he left right as owen came up and we ended up winning 3 cups in2001 so mcmanaman winning trophies didn't matter

We were in 4th when benetiz joined and in CL but owen wanted to go so he played a game.. he ended up getting nothing but we got CL and it kept gerrard( had owen not gonewould gerrard have stayed or left to chelsea???)

I felt there was an element if mega rich galacticos and chavs hunting about at the time and that irked.

Then as champions of europe he was offered an olive branch back and he mugged us off.

After that the final straw was that right when LFC were falling apart he chooses to leave newkie in the **** in championship to join our deadliest foes.... that really was like just about the worst thing possible to do.

I do think owen got worst in 2005 than mcmanaman ever did but i always called both bluenose traitorous ****es.

In other news the National Miners association just named Mrs. Thatcher as the patron saint of mining.

Michael Owen was one of the best players to put on the shirt in the last 20 years. We had first option on him when he left Madrid, and he was offered to us when his contract run down at Newcastle. He showed more loyalty than Macca and Fowler as well. Don't know how some can laud an utter gobshite like Fowler when he was pissed and tonked for large parts of his career, yet Owen gets jip even though he never quibbled at any PR/Club off-field requests.

    **** you all. :emoticon-0183-swear

I don't know what a club ambassador does exactly, but if it involves boring people to death then we've got a winner.

He shafted us in 2004, no argument, but Stevie was on the verge of doing the same too after the Euros that year. Rafa walked into an utter ****storm that the distracted Houllier had left him. How Fowler, who was every bit as mercenary as Macca and Owen, seems to come out of this a s an angel totally bemuses me. Give me Owen any day of the week.

When it comes to the money and contract stuff I'm not really interested and can forgive players looking at their bank balance but you do not, ever and I mean ever play for Utd.

Wasn't Gerrard an Everton fan as a kid too?
I remember that picture of him as a nipper stood next to the League trophy in an Everton kit.

To be fair to him, he did want to win the title, he knew he had no chanch with Liverpool and 100% chance with UTD.

At the end of the day, he had his best years with Liverpool

There are loads who change from when they were kids.

I recently came home to Mrs luv smirking and mini luv announced he was now supporting Man Utd because his friend does.

Big argument, I get called childish, mini luv crying...

I calmed down and explained in a nice way later and promised him I'll take him to Anfield next season.

    Jesus Christ!!

My mum keeps trying to turn my daughter into a ****ing Gooner.
She bought her a mini Arsenal kit. I told her to go **** herself.
No Arsenal fans in my house. Two things you cannot be if you wish to live in my house, a Christian, or a Gooner!!
My mum and brother are both Gooners, my dad and Uncle were the Chelsea fans, but they are both dead :( so I am left on my own trying to fend my mum and brother off turning my girl into a ****! <laugh>

No matter what he did with us I will never remember him fondly you just don't do it. He knew that the fans would hate him going there but did it anyway.
