yeah its a shame the way it went tbh, but the just desserts were as you said, he ****ed off to win the cl and watched us do it the year later always remeber the Owen FA cup final v the goons, i was at my sisters christening and me and my dad brought a portable radio to listen to the game, my dad gave up after about 75mins and i had the pleasure of telling him wed won
Club should have taken care of their own interests. Not like they hadn't had a warning when Macca left on a bosman. Don't hear to many criticising him for doing worse (actually leaving for free target than little)
What?, like give him a new contract on his terms and break the salary scale at the club? The snake should have had the decency to hand a transfer request in to the club that nurtured him from schoolboy to England star. McMannaman was a **** also, but he didn't play for the mancs and was a success at Real.
No. Sell him earlier to maximise the transfer fee. However, as I've said many times before, maybe the club knew he wouldn't renew but opted to get a extra year out of him regardless. He helped us get CL football in his final year worth us! Playing for the Mancs was worse but even then what choice did he have? End his career early by playing for a small club like Stoke or Everton or have one last crack at getting a league medal
Is that you Michael? He loves the club so much that when offered a chance to come back after warming the Real bench he knocked us back to join Newcastle, no doubt to win the CL.
We wasn't prepared to pay the £17m it would have taken to get him FFS he's a grade A **** but why make **** up or twist truths to make him look worse? And you never answered the "why doesn't Macca get the same **** for doing worse"part either
cos mcmanaman tossed off when club has more players left... probably... i called him a toffee nosed traitor for sure. they all come crawling back for the easy time.
As if LFC would pay almost double the fee Real stole him for to get him back. So you reckon McMannaman doesn't get or hasn't had any stick for the Sly way he left the club?, I've seen and heard him getting loads tbh.
Macca was never treated the same way as Owen. Much like Owen was never loved like Fowler despite having scoring exploits at times. Back when Owen left it was still common for players to go into a final year of their contact. Owen always said he wanted to play abroad at some point too. We'd just had a five year plan fail, he didn't want to sit through another especially with Real Madrid showing interest. More fool him in the end since we won the CL the year he left
No they shouldn't, hence us not resigning him! Can't say I've heard Macca get stick. Maybe it's because I don't live in Liverpool. However, I never hear people stop bad mouth Owen. Says enough imo.
I was never a big Owen fan btw, even when he was playing for us, scoring **** loads and winning awards.
owen was a little smarmy liar mcmanaman went silent on it and announced bosman in january. owen was running up to end of window on about signing knowing full well what he did.
oh and mcmanaman was always a bluenose. never really hid it. also mcmanaman came up when LFC was winning ****e. and broke into team in 1991 and 1992. he was not obsessed over like owen was when he came up as saviour. so.. i reckon owen built his betrayals up one after the other....
were you bothered by mcmanaman? he was a dribber but could not shoot worth a damn. someone will post two goals now and try prove that wrong but he baled most miles off.
