It's a bit tricky to single out 'disappointing' individuals this season. Collectively, we've scored nowhere near enough goals, through ****e recruitment in the summer - and relying, to a large extent on Jerome who has proved time and again that he can't hack it in the top flight. Defensively, to go in to a new season with a 'dodgy' CB (Bassong) that blows hot and cold, one who has a litany of lay-offs through injury (Bennett, though he / we have been fortunate this season on that side) and ostensibly a right back (RM) is sheer lunacy. Added to that too many players out of position (Wes on the left, Howson and Vadis on the right, ffs!!) and a lack of creativity all through the season and we're where we are through self-imposed naivety. And worse still, if we do go down, we'll be reliant on youth to rebuild as no player worth his salt wants to come to a club that has suffered two (2) relegations in a three year period
Just seen this on Newsnow. It fits quite nicely onto this thread, as it identifies our transfer dealings as our weakest link - and apart from Brady and Klose, it's difficult to argue! http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...tifying-the-wrong-player-in-the-first-place/?
I think the signing of Klose highlights that we have been in need of a significant upgrade at CB for some time. Starting this season with the no improvements in this area has cost us. If we had been stronger and calmer across the back line I think we would have been safe by now even with our lack of quality upfront.
Fully agree with this. We either needed to score a lot more or concede a lot less - and through dithering around and not being successful with transfer targets for whatever reason(s), we've achieved neither of these, hence the waist-deep brown stuff please log in to view this image we find ourselves immersed in
I totally disagree, players will move to us as they will see us as one of the best bets for moving up to the PL with our recent record of 4 of the last 5 seasons there, that and bouncing back immediately on our last relegation. We will be able to pay top end Championship wages. I think we will be viewed in the same light as WBA, who whilst they yoyo'd for a while have now established themselves in the PL. We, with the right manager and a bit better recruitment could be one more promotion/stay up, away from getting to that point. Wait and see what the bookies make of us if we are relegated, I'll wager that we would be joint favourites for promotion with Newcs or Sunderland. In the event of relegation we are still in a good position to sign the worst of the PL (as we have done before or some of the better players the championship has to offer. Of course these maybe good players to help get out of the champioship but perhaps not so good for staying up again. What we really need to do is identify the next Afobe and hope like he seems to have, that they will take the step up with us, better that than CamJ who for us was a great champ player but with a history of under achievement in the PL. Bah!
Try telling that to Sebastien Haller and Kalidou Koulibaly, both of whom were strongly linked this season
Hard to argue with that list, the top 3 stand head and shoulders above the rest due to having exihibited some consistency over the course of the season (Half season if your Tim), Hoolahan and Tettey, could easily be joined by O'neil and Redmond who have both been excellent at times, but non-existant at others Bah!
We were newly promoted then, if we stay up and with the increased money then who knows, we might get them? Clearly if relegated we can't get players like that, but we can still get the best of the non-premier league desirables, hardly just reliant on youth! Bah!
But they both scored on debut...and did boogie all since. I hope lightning doesn't strike the same place three times
Naismith has a relegation clause of about £5-6 Mil so we will either recoup some of the fee back or have him with us IF we go down. I would Imagine he would be pretty good in the Chumpionship. Klose may decide to stay with us too and fight for promotion otherwise we should get most of his fee back. Just hope we don't do the same as RVW and Lafferty and run their contracts down on loan .
Ooooo I got a good one! The biggest disappointment of the season..........................................The absense through ban of SN23 for a large part of it! Bah!
It turns out I wasn't even banned apparently. I posted a picture of a pig with massive gonads on another board.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought Koulibaly was ready join us but Napoli couldn't find a replacement in time. Imagine him and Klose in our back line. Haller on the other hand, was never coming.
