I like the look of BENISSIMO 12/1 Warwick 2.40
Absolutely hosed up in a novice hurdle at the start of the season and was duly thumped by the handicapper. Has now slipped to a more realistic mark and must now have a semblance of a chance back at the scene of his victory.

    18:50 Market Rasen - Icanmotor

(Let's hope she can. Still a maiden but ran a good race LTO at Uttoxeter in October, and overall form is fair in the context of this trappy handicap. Has not raced since so will be fresh, for sure. Have ignored breeding for a change as there's stamina on the sire's side, but on the dam's side seems a bit sprint bred, although having said that, dam Lochnagold's damsire was Deep Run (av.progeny 13.4f)? Good jockey engaged. Sporting bet at around 6/1).

2 weeks, just 2 weeks until the highlight of the year! If we get weather like today, I will be amazed. I've got new shoes, but last year's suit and tie will do. Might get a new shirt ... hmm

Anyway, enough of that. Where to start today?
The only one that really appeals right now is Bring Back Charlie, 2.30 at Perth, though Abyaat is steaming at the moment, so I may change my mind.

It's easy to get carried away with all the trainer championship shenanigans, and both have big possibilities today, with the frightening prospect of an STD triple with El Bandit, The Eaglehaslanded and Stilletto ( 2.10, 3.10, 3.40 ) at Warwick. However, I think I'm going to overlook that and have a go with Brio Conti, 4.40 at Warwick, to provide Nicholls with the win.
I cannot contemplate Nicholls / STD having 4 winners from that card; it can't happen, can it? ( So tempted, so tempted )
The Mullins pair of Townshend and Tennis Cap ( 2.00, 4.00 ) at Perth is a tempting double; however, I'm not tempted, to be honest.

    Interesting ...

    Good Luck.

Brendan Powell has just the two rides at Market Rasen, in the last couple of races. In the bumper, the debutante filly Naranja is worth a dabble e/w at the 14/1 generally available (16/1 in two places). Stable has the occasional bumper winner.

Blimey, I tipped the winner and the runner up - I doubt I've done that before now!

Well done, the Straight Forecast (£18.48), would have been nice, and the Exacta even better (£30.60). Did you do either?

I only plumped for Abyaat, Swanny; no confidence for any forecast bets at the mo, just happy with the win.

Bloody hell, what a finish by Naranja, hardly looked as though she take a hand in the finish after entering the straight.

<cheers> Smokey. Icanmotor disappointed a bit but won't give up on her, think she can win a small race somewhere, maybe at a slightly shorter distance? Not often one gets a winner at a half-decent price, so Naranja more than made up for it. :emoticon-0100-smile

Digressing a bit, at the moment Claire Dyson's stable is quite tiny, but my goodness they are obviously very caring people. This from her website:

    Quote:

    ICANMOTOR

    Owner Keith Elvins
    2007 Bay mare
    By Midnight Legend
    Out of Lochnagold
    H 86

She is the most staightforward mare who just wants to please, been placed and will not be long before she gets her head in front.

    Unquote.

.....and her mare did try yesterday, and one day I think she will get her head in front. I really hope so.
