I am suggesting, possibly for comic effect, that everything said about Costa in the post I quoted also applies to Vardy apart from....

Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo is proud of the standards at his academy and is clearly annoyed by all the praise heaped on Tottenham's youth policy this season.

Emenalo doesn't understand why Spurs seem to get a lot of praise when he believes the one player they have truly produced is England striker Harry Kane. He also says Chelsea are in a better position in terms of their academy.

'In reality it is just the one key player, Harry Kane,' said Emenalo. 'Dele Alli they bought, Eric Dier they bought; Tom Carroll is a fringe player. So with all the hoopla about Tottenham, it's just the one player.'

And Bentaleb. And Mason. And Onomah.
And Caulker, Townsend and Livermore, who were sold for about £28m.
And Kevin Stewart, who wasn't good enough for us, so he was let go. Dropped down a couple of levels and signed for Liverpool.

To be serious though, for a second, Chelsea's academy should be miles ahead of everyone else's.
They've spent a ****-ton of money on it and hoovered up every talented youngster that they could get their hands on.
I'm not surprised that this pillock's a bit defensive about his failure to bring anyone through, under those circumstances.

Edit: I've just read the guy's full quote and it includes this gem:
"It helps to grow your own. We love the idea of having players who love Chelsea. We need the next John Terrys, Ashley Coles and Frank Lampards because they bring a spirit to the club. We want to recreate that spirit."

Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were Chelsea youth players, apparently! <laugh>

I guess the difference is had Chelsea bought Alli he'd have been loaned out to Middlesbrough or some non-descript foreign team, probably ending up at Stevenage in three or four years. Rose and Walker were bought very young and are now England's full-backs. Dier, similarly, wasn't well-known and has been bought young and relatively cheaply and turned into a totally different player.

I'm no Spurs fan and I desperately hope they don't win the title but they're doing something very right and that's in spite of previous management spunking most of the Bale money on dross.

To Gary, you represent the ultimate evil. The mere sight of your avatar is sufficient to send him into a paroxysm of anger.

I can assume only that he suffered an extremely traumatic (probably sexual) experience in Watford, at some point during his youth.

diving needs to be stamped out cos it is cheating. If the ref thinks you dive (this includes exaggerating a fall) then you get a yellow card...end of story. Vardy knows this is a possibility and also knew he was on a yellow so he was a bit of a cock to take the risk. He was a massive cock to then put himself in a position where he may miss more than just this weeks match.

honestly can not see how there is any debate about it...especially from the ****ing England manager <doh>

Because Woy is a useless old twat!.

As you say, what's to argue about? He dived, try to con the ref, yellow card. As he was already on a yellow, it was just downright stupid!..

Any Leicester win or Tottenham loss , with each having 3 games remaining , and the fat lady will be waddling out to the microphone .
PS .. Dawson had a pretty fair day bulging the old onion bag .

Well that may be it for Spurs.

Tough games for Leicester coming up though.

Will Chelsea spoil drop the axe on Spurs?

I think United will get at least a point against Leicester and Spurs will fail to beat Chelsea.

The Leicester party will be at home against Everton.

It's Leicester's title. I've been pretty sure of that for a couple of weeks. But, I would dearly love to stuff The Chavs at their own place. That would be some consolation, at least.
