    I'd suggest that we won't be seeing 7th again this season. Straight fight between us and Chelsea for 8th I think, and I think we'll just hold them off.

    Sorry but I really don't buy into this 'harder to keep Koeman' argument.

    Saints aren't making Europe and that is partly to do with Koeman. I'm not saying he's done a bad job (he hasn't) and I'm not saying this season has been a failure (it isn't) but he's the manager and he's got responsibility for us not making Europe.

    This whole notion that the club not being in Europe means Koeman is more likely to leave seems a bit daft to me when he's had influence over this season and we haven't qualified on his watch.

    I agree....don't think it will be one thing that makes Ron's decision for him. He wants to be here or he doesn't....and also depends on what his alternatives are. The more he likes it here, the better the other offers have to be. It depends if he feels the failure to make the Europa suggests an ongoing problem or something he hopes he can correct next season. Nothing is clear at the moment.

    There have been a few factors, Clasie taking time to adapt to the Premier League, Mane's mysterious temporary loss of form, Cedric being slightly disappointing, Vic collecting more cards than a Vegas dealer, Fraser being out for the first half of the season and Jay's injury setback being the main ones.
    It's been another transitional season that has shown plenty of promise in parts, but what we really need now is the Board to show commitment in keeping this bunch together with one or two additions. I'm hopeful for an overall improvement next season.
