Whatever they do they can never shake off the negative feeling many people have against them. I'm sure there will be people cheering that they lost their court case. Not me. I think one has to give them the benefit of the doubt.
My wife is watching the A word and there's just been a fantastic line from a father (50's) to his son (30s): "You're my son and I love you, but if there was a twat olympics, you'd be in the medals" Brilliant line!
I've read the book and it's rather convincing, to be honest. I hasten to add that I'm not saying that what the book says is so is so, just that the argument put forward by the police chief is very well-reasoned. Vin
I see that the Gardeners' World fraternity are rather angry with the BBC for cancelling a sequence of programmes in favour of sporting ones . Surely these sporting events can be switched to BBC3 or even BB4? Seems like the controllers have forgotten what it is like to get out into all that muck with a pair of wellingtons!!
Sometimes the planners need to use their heads. I love football and understand the need for ITV to put internationals on ITV1 where they can get the most revenue. but they interrupted a crime serial twice for the last England games. Made it quite hard to follow when episodes separated twice by a fortnight. As the matches were scheduled in advance, was it beyond the wit of man to move the serial to a date where it wouldn't be interrupted.
They could have put the football on ITV4. Surely most households have ITV4 so and much of ITV4 is full of repeats.
ITV4 is used for the Tour de France and the Vuelta de España, so there's a case for making it ITV's sports channel.
Football is put on ITV1 because of the higher income generated on the prime channel....I suspect the audience may be reduced if put on another channel with a popular programme on ITV1. Advertising prices are higher I believe for important football matches....betting sites love them for obvious reasons.
You can hardly say the Tour, the world's greatest sporting event in terms of live spectators, is screwed!
Perhaps not in the case of the TDF, but traditionally, any time ITV gets hold of a sport or sporting event it's popularity usually declines, due to their woeful coverage.
The Tour may well be an exception, but it does show that ITV is capable of assembling a team of expert commentators who don't bore the pants of the viewer.
Out of so many wrongs they get one right. Shame I'm not interested in watching cycling. Ride a pushbike though, when I'm not doing the real thing.
Cheers everyone! Have been in contact with Micheldever tyres and told them which ones I want - am going tomorrow morning to get it done ...... just need to raid the piggy bank first .......
Can you shake that piggybank hard for me too please? Found out what needs doing on my Honda..... new drive shaft
Apart from the Vuelta team being different from the Tour team, and different again from the Tour of Britain team that is!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 Mass murderer Breivik wins a lawsuit that says his human rights were violated because he was given the same meal two days running and is kept isolated (incidentally for his own safety). Norwegian prisons are as soft as you can get and he may eventually get out....something that would be over ruled in this country (though not if the European Courts had their way). Some people should never be released. He also says that being fed the same food twice is worse than waterboarding.....I think he needs to experience both before we accept his judgement on this.
