They had one good thing the whole show. One zoo in America said it was time to make the animals the main thing. They got rid of elephants as it has been proven they can not live in a zoo. They then made the remaining animal cages absolutely huge! With the publics area very small. The polar bear cage was so big you couldn't see the ones on the ground area. They then had a under water part where the beers swam which was also massive.

The guy who ran the zoo said it was time the animals that can live in a zoo be looked after first. He was so against elephants being in zoos he actually lost his license because the zoo commitee wanted him to send them to another zoo. So at least there was one good guy.

Woburn Safari Park near me is a little like that. Rhinos are in a massive enclosure where they usually gather a long way from the viewing area. The Wolves have a little wooded area on the far side of their enclosure and always seem to be there and out of close eye sight. The cheetahs don't have as big an enclosure but at least it only has a small section that is for human viewing so they can keep a good distance.

    It's not perfect but ok.

Edit, I didn't mean Woburn, but Whipsnade.

Does anyone know anyone who can give advice on best (and reasonably priced) tyres? I have to get 2 fronts (tread low) and one rear (tread perfect, but has a cut in it) for my Range Rover Sport. I've looked on the RR forum and there are a million different opinions there, plus advice on buying them from Germany ......
Not being exactly technical, I'm a bit flummoxed, but I don't want to rock up to Quikfit and have them rip me off on price ......
    Cheers!!

Best advice I can give you is to get a guide price by going to one of the tyres and reading off the size/section/rating etc. Then plug that info into Google and put price afterwards. Then you'll know who is reasoanble and who to stay away from.
Decided on a manufacturer yet? Original equipment manufacturer [OEM] is a good indicator. I learned that lesson on my first SAAB 900, an Injection, which had Pirelli 6000s on it. They wore out and I was advised to put Michelins on it. Useless. Car was awful. They wore out in triple quick time too. I went back to the Pirellis and the superb car came back. It was like chalk and cheese.

Cheers, TSS. That's exactly what I'm afraid of - getting new tyres for a not exactly cheap price and then discovering the car performs worse or they wear out too quickly. It's a minefield .....
I'll do as you say - seems to be between Pirellis or Hankook .... And then there's a discussion about whether to go from 40 profile to 45 (which would mean buying 4 tyres - obviously) but appears to be smoother ride ......
    Think I should just walk - it's a lot cheaper ....... <steam>

What should the RR be wearing from new? I'd fit those. It's often a falicy that vehicles and motorbikkes are improved on by fitting non-standard stuff. By all means fit a recommended width of tyre, but if yours was fitted with a certain size, there was a damn good reason why.
So, for example, if it was fitted with Pirellis as standard of the original size/section/rating I'd buy them as cheaply as possible. Scout around.

When you decide which manufacturer, phone 4 or 5 to get best price. I tend to use the same tyre place now but still check prices. Several thousand miles ago, I changed brand of tyres and have had no problem.... except the bloody pot hole a few weeks back that has ended up costing me a new alloy and the car still isn't right!

They want to have the car for a half day/day to do some further diagnostics.... I'm going to take it to a man I know first.

I did the same thing last autumn. New alloy, new tyre (needed replacing) and tracking adjusted and it's as good as new. Sounds like they are trying to make some money.

Phone Micheldever Tyres. They're approachable, helpful, give very good advice and I've only ever seen their prices matched, never beaten. However do not, under any circumstances, even think of going there on a Saturday to have them fitted, as you'll queue for an hour. They'll tell you a quiet time if you ask.

I use Micheldever too Dave, they are usually the best prices around although Protyre (a subsidiary I think) are pretty close. The only reservation about Micheldever is they may try to push whatever brand they are promoting at the time, so may be best to have an idea of what make of tyre you want in advance and don't let them convince you otherwise.

Heard of Protyre. Apparently very good. Also Tyre-Shack.
