Liverpool have been hit with yet another UEFA charge following their dramatic Europa League quarter-final triumph over Borussia Dortmund. The Reds face punishment after a flare was thrown on to the field during their thrilling fightback against the Bundesliga outfit at Anfield. UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against the club over “the setting off of fireworks” and the charges are stacking up for Liverpool. After last month's last 16 tie with rivals Manchester United, the Reds were hit with five charges: illicit chants, setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, crowd disturbances and a late kick-off. Liverpool issued a statement saying they would “address the issues with UEFA”. The club also publicly urged supporters to refrain from using flares prior to both legs of the quarter-final against Dortmund but the problem has persisted. A flare was let off in the away end at the Westfalenstadion after Divock Origi scored in Germany and UEFA responded by charging Liverpool again. Now they have done the same after a flare was thrown from the Kop during the second leg. All seven charges against Liverpool will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 19 – the day after the final in Basel. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...ws/liverpool-hit-another-uefa-charge-11200730
bring the cup along and put it on the desk... ask how much and pay the holiday fund.. sorry fine. The club has to know who is doing it most. any bit of cross referencing images from good away end video from clubs where flares have been let off and the approved list of fans who get tickets should show. You'll note leicester have actually handed out bans to fans who's tickets ofr last day of season appeared online for sale. we seem to think its fine to do this stuff but uefa could hit the club hard on it if they feel like it.
Do people not got searched as they go in? Excuse me sir, what's the long hard thing I can feel in your pocket.... Erm nothing mate, I'm just pleased to see you. Oh, go on in then...
if you throw something on pitch you need a ban. so I do expect theres quite a few who know who did it and the video clearly ids a fan as well. If the club has a choice between say a group match next time we are in europes (not saying its next year) behind closed door and one fan banned... well... and no they don't really search IMO. If they really searched 45k fans they'd never get in on time.
You can't frisk 45k match goers ffs. It wouldn't be effective anyway. A load of fuss about nothing, a couple of smoke flares. Meh.
Aren't they banned in English stadiums though? And if they threw one on to the pitch especially, then the fans in question should be reprimanded. We had an idiot in the Chelsea End let off a smoke flare at Stadium: MK when we played the Dons in the FA cup. The ushers manhandled the guy out of the stands and he was nicked. (And will probably face a ban by CFC).
If you really wanted to of course you can. You tell people everyone will be searched (those over 18) so make sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare, do it every game and after 3/4 games people will expect it so arrive with enough time to spare.
eeeeeeehhhhh.. just check out the logistics of that at next brighton game you go to. About the best you can hope for is away end searched IMO. And you can see how lax it is in most grounds frankly.
Logistically, you could frisk every 10th fan without too much delay. Obviously you won't catch everyone but if the risk is being kicked out of a game you paid for, a stadium ban, and potential arrest, fewer people will risk trying to smuggle in a flair in the first place. To be honest though, it might be the pyromaniac in me but I think they look pretty fun in the stadium... Not sure about safety though.
They burn at extremely high temperatures. So if you are happy for a guy to wave round a blow torch beside you.. well thats fine then. lobbed on pitch. we have seen a linesman struck once before. Yes you could do random checks. the bigger point would be what can anyone bring in... someone some Saturday might bring a few isis bombs in and then this discussion will be i nthe ha'penny place.
If you can smuggle flares in you can smuggle just about anything in. I assume there are metal detectors nowadays at least? I know the games I've been to in the US with Liverpool playing or any other big team playing has had metal detectors and every bag gets checked.
**** that, the guy who set one off at Stadium:MK was like 5 rows in front of me in the away end, and I could feel the heat coming off it from back there, not too mention a huge ****ing smoke cloud that stopped half the Chelsea fans seeing 3 minutes of the game because we were choking to death.
