Most likely will be the other away around - Okazaki will be up front playing off Ulloa behind him like earlier in the season. I didn't like Ulloa in that position tbh because he was asked to run into space, but if the balls were more direct then he can do what Steve Howard used to do for us.
Leo proved last season if you put quality crosses into him he will score goals. He isnt the greatest with his feet and rather then trying to continue with our normal style we need to adjust a little. Play 2 wingers and free Mahrez up A in form Mahrez can win us the game regardless of who is upfront. Give him a free role and let he float where the space is
I put my reply in you match thread but will copy it here; Mahrez would get 2 players on him at every time he touches the ball - at least on the wing he pulls players out of position and gives space in the middle. If we play crosses then Williams and Fernandez will just gobble them up - have Ulloa deeper to pull them out of position because they don't have a very tall team and Okazaki run around in the space. Can move Mahrez in the middle when Okazaki has run himself out.
When we beat Swansea at the Liberty it was the space in front of their back 4 where we won. Kante and Mahrez was given the freedom of Wales that day
Yup - but that was because they had 2 players on Vardy as he was on his concecutive goals run. Have to be more cleaver now - CR will make his money on Sunday.
no cleavers, axes, mallets needed ... we have the players ... just need a good performance and a little bit of good fortune ....
Earlier in the season we played the ball around with a lot of fast paced short passes. Recently we have played longer balls for Vardy to run on to. With Vardy banned I'm hoping we will see, some of the amazing one touch passing that made teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City look bewildered as we carved through the defence.
It worked when we were under pressure last weekend, he put in a much better shift and Schmeichel can certainly find him with a goal kick, lets hope he can replicate that again this week if hes asked to. Hes not going to chase down every ball or create a run to be 1 on 1 with the keeper, but he should be able to bring others like Mahrez and DD into attack.
With all the optimism we have about being able to cope without Vardy, I'm wondering whether he'll get back into the team if things work out as we hope! In all seriousness we do need to improve our ball retention, particularly against the better teams. We can do that with Vardy in the side, but we have to be more patient and choose the right time to get the ball to him without squandering possession so often. Against West Ham I thought DD gave his worst passing display of the last few weeks.
I'm kinda surprised at the optimism around here - I've been a Leicester fan for over 20 years and have never felt positivity like this especially as we've lost our top goalscorer as we are on the cusp of winning the title.
One thing I will say is we have a lot of unrealized potential with our players . We have put together a very good set of tools . The problem being we've had 3 mechanics in charge so far this season with talk of a 4th coming in in summer . To many Chiefs , to stabilize the Indians .
Ironically, i was most positive when we were in the championship and last year. Some would say that I've never been wrong...
