"...no longer in an offer period for the purposes of the Code...

which is different. It's just saying the Stock Exchange Code doesn't apply to the current negotiations.

Guys, we are all on bended knees with fingers, toes and everything else crossed. Im going to pray to god tonight. Gpd knows he owes us at least one.

All this good news aside please forgive me for asking what will this new dude bring to the table. We know very little or nothing about him other than he is loaded. There are some horror stories out there about foreign owners buying clubs and then offering nothing (just ask Pompey), Im a little bit afraid that we all hate the current muppets so much that we would be willing to accept anybody but them.

If anybody can put my worrying mind at rest i would really really appreciate it.

Well said, can't be easy with so many growing impatient and fed up. I can honestly say I never doubted him, I just don't see how anybody would be able to give such a pin point accurate time. It was almost bang on 5pm Thursday. <ok>

Nice to see CernyBerny interacting with us at last... thanks for that. Despite the fact that there's no done deal atm, an indication from the club that something's going on is enough to bring much needed water to parched ground. Passing shower or not there's no doubting the relief we're feeling.

As for Cerny, cred's intact as far as doubting Brixton is concerned because he said Thursday and today's still Thursday innit?!

Now for the speculation. If the potential buyer is Mordashov then at least he's a football fan with a bit of local pedigree. Dare we anticipate sensible football decisions and respect for traditional fans? Let's be clear about one thing, owners and clubs are not a single entity. Mordashov is extremely wealthy and the club is far from it.

It's the club we care about and judging by many, if not most posts on here over the past few months, we fans don't expect owners to do an Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour act and spend ludicrous sums chasing success. If I'm right, what most of us want from owners is a plan that makes the club financially stable and competitive for years to come - even if that means going down again before that stability is achieved.

However, Eamon's concerns are not lost on me. Whilst never condoning the behaviour of the Goons, he questioned the ability of the Mittals or any other owner we end up with, to improve on the Goon show. On that point Eamon I am with you. Mordashov, if that's who we end up with, looks like a bit of a result but let's not count our chickens eh?

Anyway, we deserve a break and so far so good as far as I'm concerned!

Queens Park Rangers Says It’s in Talks With New Potential Buyer of Team
Q

Queens Park Rangers, promoted to English soccer’s Premier League at the end of last season, said it’s entered talks with a second potential buyer.
The club confirmed that previous discussions with the other party ended in March, without identifying either of the possible buyers. QPR made today’s announcement, describing both sets of talks as “preliminary,” on the stock exchange’s Regulatory News Service.
Takeover speculation has surrounded the west London club since Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One chief who’s the majority owner in the club, said in April he might sell the team for 100 million pounds ($164 million).
The family of metals billionaire Lakshmi Mittal owns about one-third of QPR. In May, vice-chairman Amit Bhatia, Mittal’s son-in-law, quit the board after a disagreement over ticket- price increases and changes to club management.
Bhatia confirmed at the time that the Mittals wished to buy Ecclestone’s stake but had been rebuffed. Bhatia and Ecclestone were unavailable for comment today, and QPR said it’s making no comment beyond the RNS statement.
Formula One duo Flavio Briatore and Ecclestone bought the club in September 2007, with the Mittal family taking a stake in December that year. Last year, Ecclestone bought Briatore’s stake, but the Italian has an option to buy it back.
“I bought the shares from Flavio and he has an option to buy them. He has got until the end of July, or end of August to make up his mind,” Ecclestone said in an interview on June 25.
Warnock Speculation
QPR last played in the Premier League 15 years ago. Since promotion was achieved there’s been speculation over coach Neil Warnock’s future, with Italy’s Claudio Ranieri and Marcello Lippi linked with the role.
At the end of last season there were concerns the team might be blocked from returning to the top league even though it won the second-division Championship. However, it avoided a points penalty over irregularities in the signing of Argentine midfielder Alejandro Faurlin in 2009.

Cerny, I'm not wrong on the quote. Frankster left those words out.

As to the meaning - I entirely accept that you may know something I don't - but on the wording of that paragraph, the owners are saying that the current negotiations don't fall within the (strict and restrictive conditions of the) City Code on Takeovers and Mergers. It's presumably an advantage to be outside them, and they're letting everyone (particularly the regulators, I suppose) know in advance that they are.

End of Dry Message!

mentions this on 365

Force India Formula One team owner Vijay Mallya and chairman of United Breweries Group, which produces the Kingfisher beer brand, has previously been linked with the Loftus Road club.

Could well be North, he seems more interested in football than Ecclestone and Briatore are. A Newcastle fan by some accounts, so well schooled given their recent history...

So are we on our way from Goons to Toon? Who knows, but on the face of it and not knowing much at all the latter could be an improvement to what we've been getting (it's his experience as a fan that gives me hope).

You?

I hope Mittal wins the buyout race, would rather the worlds 6th richest man to the 29th!
