The price isn't really the issue, neither is the performance. It's the principle and a host of other factors that make up the over all experience. A lot are intangibles, like trying to separate things off and deciding which bit is the football club. You can't point a finger and highlight which specific part of your body is "you", you can only touch component parts, many of which you can manage without and still be "you".
Fair enough I suppose. I get the sense that with former players they view clubs as "different" if the owners aren't the same that were there when they were there. I would have thought to some extent it would be the same with supporters. It was always said if the Allams achieved the name change, that all it would take would be a new owner coming in and changing it back to get the supporters onside.Thought perhaps if new owners came in and charged U21's and pensioners 5 quid and everyone else 15 quid people might be encouraged to come back given the fact the new regime may be a cause for optimism.
Masters of irony. One speck of **** and they all run to the hills. I find it incredible people are whinging about paying less.
That's what I'm trying to comprehend. If it isn't about the price, if it isn't about what goes on on the pitch, what is it? I understand the dischord due to some sections of the supporter base having to pay more - but that means it is about money? Which is why I asked if the prices reduced for everyone would people be happy to come back? I completely understand and sympathise with people who physically can't attend because they can't afford to, but if the game becomes affordable again, how can people suggest that they are City 'Til They Die if they refuse to return, particularly if there were new Owners? I'm genuinely not trying to be disrespectful as I fear this post may be taken, I'm just trying to grasp what is going on with the club that has such a profound and deep impact on supporters that would turn them away so permanently. It's hugely saddening.
Very few things, if anything are forever. Everyone is different. I was away from the club for decades and only returned much later in life, but it turned out to be unpleasant. I never adopted the big social element, I go to football to watch it, not sing songs. TV, when available is often better for this, as no one is jumping up in daft excitement at the slightest hint of something, making you miss key moments. Like I said, each to their own. Is it so hard to move on? I guess it's like divorcing someone you used to love, maybe still do, but it's just not going anywhere, you need to see what life is like without them. You still care for them, you have a good relationship and wish them well, but sharing their time is no longer as enjoyable as it was. I haven't said it's easy, but it does get easier as other, better experiences fill the void.
My brother and sister-in-law have seventy plus years of solid support between them. They were both very opposed to the name change but vowed they would still go home and away. They sit in upper west and said they would still go even if moved. They have now (tried to) read the terms and conditions and say they are more complicated than a life insurance policy. They have been told that they have to inform the club within 14 days where they want to sit next season, and if promoted then go back to the club and tell them which section of the limited upper west areas they want to move back to. They have finally had enough and will devote more of their very limited time to grandchildren and the golf course. My line in the sand was at the end of last season, this is theirs.
They didn't. The said no family in the family stand will pay more. Its not clear if that includes families moving into the family stand or just refers to those already sat there.
i am one of the lucky ones I think, from what I can see my south stand seat is in zone 1 .. doesn't mean I don't think what is happening to the people with kids, or OAP is wrong , it is. in fact I think even the different prices for seats is wrong, my mate is in same boat as me but paying twice as much as me because his east stand seat is considered twice as good, even tho not for me ive always preferred behind the goal maybe im selfish by renewing and not taking a stand for other people, but the fact is I didn't stop going over the name change because I refused to let them stop me doing what I love doing on a Saturday. I was there long before they got involved and will be long after Assem is cold in the ground so as long as I can afford it I will keep watching my team, but fully support those who are voting with their feet and I hope things get sorted out for most.
Called the club re the family guarantee. Was told the kids would pay what they did last year (in our case £32 I think) and I will pay the advertised price. Already sit in the cheapest section meaning £252 for me. Therefore as a family of 3 (1 adult, 2 kids) it will cost us £316. A £279 saving. That's very good. I assumed the family guarantee would be for the group as a whole to pay no more. They are saying it's individuals.
The club have taken a right kicking on Burnsy's show this morning. Just a reminder, if you haven't done it already (it's open to members and non-members), the HCST membership scheme survey can be found here (over 700 have filled it in so far)... http://hullcitysupporterstrust.com/hull-city-membership-scheme/?platform=hootsuite
They also say something about " for the first season...". That leaves a load of possibilities for future mayhem and discord.
I'm getting concerned as I haven't yet received any info on the new scheme. Is anyone else in the same boat?
I am gutted. My lad is 7, and we have been to a number of games this season - and was hoping to get passes this season. Now, he will be considered an adult. So we will not be going.
